From NFL Draft Scout:

Pro day: Several KSU seniors helped their chances of playing football at the next level last week when representatives of more than half of the NFL's 32 teams visited the Kent State field house for the school's pro day workouts. Cornerback Usama Young and defensive tackle Danny Muir really opened some eyes. Young's vertical jump of 43 inches would have been among the best scores of any players in his position group at this year's NFL combine. His long shuttle run of 11.98 seconds would also have topped all defensive backs at the combine. Just for good measure, Young twice ran the 40-yard dash in 4.40 seconds. Current rumors circulating through the NFL have Young most likely being drafted early on day two and possibly even late on day one. The Kansas City Chiefs have already scheduled a private workout with Young in Kent. Young has also been invited to visit the Cincinnati Bengals. Other potential fits for Young could be the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both teams sent their directors of personnel and defensive backs coaches to Kent last week.

Feel bad for the guy because of the comments hes getting here about his name...

Fans from other teams called Romo, Homo and thought it was the wittiest things.

Get over it.

I agree.

You could see the Osama jokes coming a mile away from those who still laugh when they pass wind.

At least his name isn't B. Hussein Obama. :lmao:

Sometimes I kill myself.

Seriously, get over it. It's a joke. It's not racism (as Hypnotoad had implied before his edit). There are a lot worse things in the world than jokes that you don't find humorous.

I might find it humorous if it weren't something an eight year old could come up with at a moment's notice.

To me, some things an 8 year old could come up with are funny. Some aren't. It's humor -- not a socio-economic policy discussion.

Fair enough.

But obviously, the racism angle can't be ignored. It's not a big deal, but I can see someone not knowing a thing about this young man and holding his name against him.

I'd be more worried about the idiot that actually held such a belief than the effect he would have on society.

You won't be laughing when he becomes your next president.

I edited my post because I didn't want people to get aggressive. This type of debate brings up alot of emotion, and I don't want to go there. But yes, calling someone a terrorist because of their name is racist. Some posts are funny, about the ministry of misinformation and the goat---great stuff had me rofloling.

I think the connection was made because his name closely resembles a (the most) famous terrorist, not because of race. I seriously cannot distinguish how you would think his post is racist and the goat/minister of defense post is not.

You can replace the name in that goat/minister post with anyones name and it will still be funny. Young wasnt being attacked, noone was called a terrorist because of their name. Posts like "Usama? great, now were gonna have a terrorist playing cornerback" or "dude needs to change his name." are offensive. I really don't want to debate this more.

Congrats, you win.
