Usama Young did NOT get toasted on all those plays. He is the best CB in the league and runs a 3.9 forty time with a goat under each arm!

I think the connection was made because his name closely resembles a (the most) famous terrorist, not because of race. I seriously cannot distinguish how you would think his post is racist and the goat/minister of defense post is not.

Exactly.

And yes, the goat post was genius.

I might find it humorous if it weren't something an eight year old could come up with at a moment's notice.

Like the freak in your sig?

Fair enough.

But obviously, the racism angle can't be ignored. It's not a big deal, but I can see someone not knowing a thing about this young man and holding his name against him.

Yay for political correctness

What fascinates me is these kinda guys that you have a hard time finding on ANY draft sites, yet they explode in their workouts and suddenly become mid round picks. They scare me as well.

It's similar to what happened with Ware. He went from a mid-round pick to a top 15 because of his combine stats. He worked out fine didn't he?

Ok guys, when do you think Young will be drafted? Which round?
I'd give him a shot in the 4th.

Man, tough to say. Sites i really repect like Draft Countdown don't have him listed and Great Blue North has him as the 41st CB. Despite his great numbers, i have a very hard time thiking he'll be more than a 4th or 5th round pick. Draft daddy doesn't have him in their top 15, nor do they have him in their top 20 sleepers.

You may not have been aware of DWare, but as a draftnik i knew him as a potential high pick in early January, can't say that about this guy.

Sure people were aware of him. That doesn't mean he was projected to go (or he would go) as high he did until he performed so well in the off-season workouts. This guy didn't go from a "known" to a 1st rounder; he simply went from an "unknown" to a mid-rounder. Same thing. Sometimes it takes really nice workouts for people to actually take a shot on a small school kid, even if he deserves a shot just based on film.

As a side note, I really like the idea of taking shots on small school athletes, because the body is nowhere near fully developed by the time they're 17 which is the time that college scouts are determining their futures.

So basically you are comparing Usama to DWare? I don't see it. DWare was always a 3rd-4th round type guy. This Usama guy isn't even on most radars and it's mid March. Every year a mid level guy like DWare jumps up to the top 30, but the Usama's that were undrafted guys before a great workout will go in the 4th-5th area. Just can't compare the two.

No problem. Wow, I thought this kid's broad jump was impressive, but I just read that Calvin Johnson had an 11 foot 7 inch broad jump at his pro day. That has to be close to a record for an NFL athlete.

Is it just me or does anytime a "FReak" like Johnson, Gallery, Mandarich...etc gets all this hype, one has to worry? Name the Freak WRs in the past 15 years that didn't turn out to be anything more than average. i'd have to go back and check all the numbers, but i know there are a few in the top 5 of several drafts. I'd take the kid in the top 3, but i'd be scared with the 55 million you're gonna have to pay(mario williams, 54 million). Bill Parcells had a theory, no WRs in the first. His 'shop for the groceries" rant was about taking T Glenn. All in all, WRs may very well be the most overrated 1st rounders every year. That said, i'd take a WR this year, so what does that say about me? Been sucked?
