CBS: Rookie running back class: Flash, dash, all-time potential

He probably took a bat to his T.V. when Felix took it 62 yards to the house for a touchdown against Green Bay... screaming, "NOOO! Trip or run out of bounds. But puh-leeze do not score. It will be a nightmare for me when I return to the Cowboyzone to defend my position against Felix."

Seriously, I wanted Mendenhall when we were on the clock, and just knew when he was still on the board that Dallas was going to steal Rashard. Then came the pick... Arkansas RB, Felix Jones. I actually remember the disbelief and said a few expletitives. And then my wife's team took Rashard the very next pick. I was in shock.

But a day later I thought I just better give Felix a chance, and wait and see what transpires. Felix definitely grew on me after the draft and throughout the rest of the offseason. And here we are now, game 4 just around the corner and I couldn't be more excited to have Felix on our team. He fits the Cowboys perfectly.

Looking back, I am pleased that the Cowboys passed on Mendenhall and went with Felix.

I'm right there eating crow with you. I thought Jerry had lost his mind when he took felix instead of mendenhall but now I like a little salt with my poultry.

I think that Faulk sees alot of himself in Felix Jones. Whenever Faulk talks about Jones, his eyes light up.

Watching almost all of Arkansas' games last year (was hoping for DMAC), I am glad we stole Felix in the first round.

I would like to see what Felix's #'s would be as a FT back in order to showcase his abilities. Having said this, I am thrilled we have a top 5 RB in Barber with his power and silent leadership.

I haven't seen NFL TA in a long time... Does Faulk still do that? I know he did when we drafted him.

And like speedkilz says, the only explanation for the "medium" wow factor is that Prisco is an idiot. I mean, lower than Matt Forte? I liked him a lot at draft time, but he's not nearly as explosive as Felix.

I don't get the speed, speed and more speed part. He is pretty fast, but he doesn't have that extra gear like say Chris Johnson has. He is extremely quick and can cut on a dime. He wow facter is more than medium.

Yeah, I'm very, very glad we didn't take Mendenhall. If anything, Chris Johnson is the one you might wish we could have gotten (not that Felix is significantly worse or anything; just that Johnson, too, is impressive).

I expect Mendenhall to look good with a bulk of the carries this weekend. But I think he's proving to be like Julius -- not an effective change-of-pace, part-time player. Which means he would have served almost no purpose for us, other than to safeguard against injury to Barber. But we needed more than that. We needed a guy that could excel with 5-10 carries in order to keep Barber energized.

Mind you, I wanted Mendenhall on draft day and thought we would rue passing on him. It feels good to be wrong, though.

Good point, nyc. Even when Prisco tries to praise Felix, he does it an awkward manner that doesn't really describe his style all that accurately.

I'm not sure Prisco means "wow" like we think of "wow." I think he's looking at their chances of being big-time backs, in the sense of starting/starring and getting lots of yards and big plays.

Jones' wow factor isn't as high because he simply does not and will not get as many carries as players like Johnson, Forte and McFadden, and with Barber entrenched, he isn't expected to be a starter/potential Pro Bowler like them.

The) class is unreal and felix shouldve been a top 10 pick. The ppl who get paid to scout had this one wrong who really cares if a fan was wrong on a draft pick.
