The Eagles off-season reminds of the time they brought in Vince Young, Ronnie Brown, the Raiders CB (Ashmonga (sp)...what were they? The Dream Team? Wasn't Howie Roseman in the front office at that time as well?

I was more curious about all those big free agents to help our weak defense that we could have signed with the $5MM in cap space we would have saved cutting Romo early.

CBS is decidedly anti-Cowboys. Prisco, La Confora and others trash the Cowboys constantly. These guys are already on the record predicting 8-8 or 9-7 this year.

Based on this past offseason.

Eagles #5. Giants #7. Cowboys #11.

Now moving beyond the silliness of the Eagles at #5, who can point out the absurdity in his Cowboys commentary?

I see nothing wrong with any of it. This ranking is based on what these teams did THIS year in the off season.

Cowboys did great in the draft, but I agree they completely whiffed in FA and floundered the Romo situation.

The Giants seem like they're problematic. Their GM ignored their biggest problem on the field, OLine, in both FA and the draft. Engram seems like a decent player, but they could use a TE and it seems like they basically drafted a slot WR.

The eagles I like what they did more, but giving too much credit for Sidney Jones at this point seems premature. Seems like the best bet is that Jones doesn't play this year. Who knows whats going to happen with the WRs they added, other then I'll bet that Alshon Jeffrey only plays in somewhere between 10-14 games at max.

Other then the insanity of the firing of their GM the Commanders actually had a pretty good draft I think and their FA wasn't terrible.

What could they have done different with the Romo situation? Trade him? Nobody wanted to trade for him. If they released him, it would be no different. Making him a June 1st cut was the smartest thing they could do.

It's a myth that the Cowboys screwed up the Romo situation. He was contemplating retirement from the get go and there was no way a team was going to trade anything of value for him.

Considering that we lost 75% of our starting secondary and 40% of our starting OL and are relying on a number of rookies and players coming off injuries as well as playing a 1st place schedule, predicting 9-7 might be spot on or even optimistic.

It's not a "front office ranking" like they claim, it's just a "2017 offseason ranking." I think they overrate big moves in free agency, but I don't see anything particularly egregious in there. They rank us 11th and somehow that's indicative of Cowboys hate? I think we had a perfectly solid offseason, but not a transformative one, so 11th sounds pretty good.

Im not blown away by the Giants offseason. But they did some Olineman in FA did they not? Defense is already great so not much to do there. Pass catching TE could be a problem going forward. We shall see.

Jerry bumbled it from the beginning. He either let the rumors persist or let it be known that he was going to cut Romo. Why would anyone try to trade for Romo if they knew he was going to be released anyway? But maybe Romo would have retired anyway. We will never know. Either way, if there was any chance of a trade, Jerry blew it right from the beginning.

Well I don't think they screwed it up. I would rather him not be in another uniform and not have to face him in a SB for Houston.

He got a top level job on CBS for the rest of his life instead.....if you think Jerry (and of course Nantz) had nothing to do with that, well I got some beach front property in Kansas for sale....
