Dennis, Anyone?

Posted by CBS11

Tony Romo seems different in camp this year: more serious maybe ... not as playful ... more "Aikman-esque." Walking off the field after one practice this week, I asked Jason Garrett if he agrees with me. He didn't dismiss the notion. I believe Tony "gets it" more as he gets started this season. He has accepted the responsibility that falls on the shoulders of the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.

He is fairly close. In fact, as a pure playmaker, I would take my chances with Romo right now versus Aikman in his prime.

Tony Romo doesn't expect to be Hard Knocks star

Tim MacMahon E-mail News tips

The Hard Knocks head honchos have vowed not to make the HBO show about Tony Romo and his girlfriend who I won't mention for the rest of training camp unless she shows up for a practice.

Romo really doesn't think he'll have a major role in the show at all. He said he basically told the NFL Films crew that he's too busy for a whole lot of Hard Knocks stuff, and they've respected that by not asking a lot from him.

Romo, whose recent singing performances have drawn intense criticism, has vowed not to pull a Chad Hutchinson and croon for the cameras.

"If they caught me singing, it's out on the field or in the locker room, but not in front of the cameras that I know of," Romo said. "I'm sure you can catch me if you do it at the right time."

Memo to Hard Knocks folks: I'd rather watch Todd Archer be a beat writer than hear Romo sing.

It's still early in Romo's career but I agree with you on this Alexander.

I agree, but if he can just polish that passing a little more, then we got an elite QB, instead of a great QB with potential

I guess this means no more in-season trips to Mexico.

I like what I'm reading about this Cowboys teams. Every once in a while, a pre-season favorite to win the Super Bowl comes along and establishes from Day 1 that hoisting the Lombardi Trophy is what they'll end up doing.

Hope it's this Cowboys team.

He's going to kick his offensive linemen in the butt when they get a penalty?

I think Romo already 'got it', he just found that the margin for error in Dallas is even smaller than he'd hoped. Once he gets a ring, he may loosen up a little more.

But it's all for the good: first one to six! Then seven! :D

Romo will be much better than Aikman when all is said and done!

And better than Staubach, too, I believe, when it is all over. I know those are very big shoes to fill, but I think he has the elan of Meridith, the escape ability and daring of Staubach, and, soon, the passing precision of Aikman. He is pretty good already.

I've said as much before. I hope he doesn't disappoint. I don't think he will.

I hope all of the crap that everyone puts on him doesn't take the fun away from Romo.

When Romo has more Superbowl rings than Aikman you can say he's better. Right now all he has is two chokes in the playoffs. Comparable -not! I love Romo 's game but lets not get carried away. His girlfriend is an airhead too.

Yes, that's another reason I like him and think he will surpass them all. He doesn't take himself too seriously. If he ever does, he'll lose a very important quality of his makeup.

Funny you mention that.

I was on another board and they were discussing that Aikman was not that good of a QB and he should not be in the HOF. They were calling him one of the most over-rated QB's ever.

So, according to those guys, we should hope Romo doesn't throw like Aikman.
