That was one I thought of but also thought would it be a surprise. He's up to 205.

I liked seeing that.

Hurd will probably never be a burner. But he can be a physical, competitive WR. If he can gain 10 more pounds???

Then, he may lose some suddenness and quickness.

I always thought Austin would be the player to really take a step forward. But Hurd can definitely make a contribution in a different way.

The question was buzz in training camp, linemen never create buzz during camp because it's near impossible to judge their talent during camp. If it were otherwise, we wouldn't have carried so many flops on the roster year after year only to watch them make fools of us and themselves on gameday.

Nice thought.

This is why I can never understand why folks are so down on players like Free. No, he's never seen the field....but he's playing behind one of the better LTs in the game.

And no, Free never saw the field even though Flo was beat up a bit. But again, players play beat up all the time.

I hope that Free does something to really stand out this year. He's going to have to show something extraordinary to gain the confidence of the staff.

Jacob Peters and Larry Allen are two lineman that created buzzes during camps. One was understandable the other mmmmm not so much

He definitely needed the extra muscle. I noticed Antonio Bryant last year also got up to 205 and it really helped him to be a more physical player.

Yawn... Everyone is picking Mike Mickens. I'll go with Courtney Brown. He has bee playing out of position for the past two years. I think moving him back to cornerback was the right move, and he has great size and athleticism for the position.

My bet is Brandon Williams.

Although he is young and is very raw...(I thought he should have stayed for his Senior year), he has a very, very quick first step. He might not master the OLB position that fast, but if he plays DE in situations he'll get a lot of sacks.

The biggest surprise would be Carpenter showing he can actually play at this level. I'm hoping he can but not betting the house on it but in terms of surprises that would be the biggest one.

Wade Phillips will be packing his bags. Anything less then 11 wins and at least 1 playoff win and it's going to be a VERY active off season at the Ranch and I'm not even sure that will save Wade. I almost believe Wade has to get this team to the big one in order to save his job.

I really think that Wade will have a great year calling the defense this year. I hope Garrett get's it done on offense. How about RW as a newcomer since he was basically not involved next year.

Stanback... then he'll probably get hurt and/or fade into the background once the season starts... again.

:starspin I question whether Stanback can stay healthy enough to get through even the preseason. I will be surprised if he's still on the roster in September.

They gave up my favorite --TO I am still mad and I think they were wrong .I live in Austin and I don't think Roy Williams is good enough to carry TO's jock. I don't buy that he was our problem..

My surprise player will be Stephen Hodge.

I think he'll stand out on special teams. His experience at safety will help him to understand coverages. I think he may take over Burnett's role as the third down LB.

I like thinking out of the box.....I didn't want to choose the obvious guy.
Jason Hatcher, The world will get a chance to see what a good player he is,also Bowen will have a good year.
