Offense looked good once it got ticking (took romo a while to get warmed up). We certainly proved we will take advantage of mistakes.

Austin stepped up his game with that TD pass, he also had a possible second TD pass that was way overthrown. Impressed me quite a bit.

Bennett is going to cause head aches for defenses.

Penalties! where were they? very impressive

Special Teams.. massive improvement so far.

Defense.. WAY too much cushion at all times, they were killing it with the underneath stuff.

Overall pass defense looked horrible

Run Defense was atrocious - better nip this in the *** really fast.

We didn't whip out any of the exotic blitz stuff today, so I won't go much into pressure, but I feel we were getting decent pass rush using 3 and 4 man attacks. Leftwich is going to need a lot of aspirin tonight.

Sasenbaugh looked really good, I hope his injuries aren't too bad

Andddd the interception by Jenkins called back by a flag on Sensabaugh was a TERRIBLE call. Should have been Dallas ball.

weren't the Bucs lucky that romo was off on some throws like the one to Bennett, the one to Austin, one or two slants to Williams?

The Bucs were lucky on couple throws by Romo. But it was obvious that the Bucs' passing game was significantly behind the Cowboys' in terms of refinement.

Tampa Bay had fired its offensive coordinator 10 days ago; its new offensive coordinator had just installed a bevy of new passing routes; and, Leftwich and the receivers have had little time to work together and refine their timing.

Yet, despite all of Tampa Bay's problems, the Cowboys showed very little pass rush, had gaping holes in their coverage, and surrendered over 100 yards rushing in the first half alone.

Perhaps luck is the wrong word, but we can't ignore the very real deficienies in the Cowboys defense today. It likely would've been eviscerated by a more refined passing attack.

The talking heads will be jocking our "big play" offense this week. They are sooo gullible. They need to get off our offense and talk about something of real concern (as always), the D.

As long as we have Romo, Witten & MBIII, we'll be alright. Everybody else can just get in where they fit in.

Some good and some bad.

The Good -

1. The big plays were there in our passing game. yes there was some blown coverage by you have to take advantage of those. Some of those big plays TO made were also the product of blown coverages.

2. We did a decent job with our backs though we really needed to use Felix more.

3. I think Roy Williams started off on his path to proving some folks wrong. He's a beast on tha slant. The more and more he and Romo get their timing down on that the more it can be like the slant was for Irvin and Aikman.

4. Our defense improved, to some degree, in the second half but there is more room for improvement.

5. Our special teams were fantastic today.

6. No turnovers by our offense today. Romo protected the ball pretty well. Only 1 pass that I really wished he hadnt thrown but nothing bad came of it.

7. Small amount of penalities. I was pretty pleased with that. Only Flo's in the first half really aggrivated me.

The Bad -

1. Our run defense was horrible today, especially in the first half. I dont know what was going on but we never seemed to adjust and allowed them to gash us up the middle pretty heavily.

2. Our pass rush was very poor today. At times they did seem to be a half step late for some sacks but overall Byron had far to much time back there to look around and find guys.

3. We got pretty lucky that the Bucs receivers dropped some catchable balls and that Byron over threw a few open guys as well.

I imagine we'll get the defense stuff shored up over the week and we'll play much better than we did today. I'm not worried to the point of believing our D will play that poorly all year long. We'll get better there.

I am worried about Gerald though. Did anyone hear what his injury was? He seemed to be playing pretty well before he got injured.

Fans are funny creatures.

During the preseason, everyone was concerned about the lack of big plays, and the reliance on long, time-consuming drives. Now, after the first game of the season, everyone is concerned about too many big plays, and the lack of long, time-consuming drives.

It's more accurate to say that there was some luck involved in the ease of this win. Kellen Winslow dropped a crucial fourth down conversion, and Leftwich and the receivers were struggling with their timing and route running.
So in other words we played better/executed better than they did and we won.

Of course. Cause the sky is falling, glass half full, crowd has to change their worries and concerns to whatever fits their stance of the sky is falling and the glass is half full.

  • No dumb penalties or false starts
  • Romo reminded me of Rothlisbergers game Thursday...out of synch early and then got it going as the game went.
  • NO TURNOVERS!
  • Beuhler will be worth the pick. Field management with his leg.
  • The middle of the D seemed like Chung Lee from Bloodsport...sweet in the gut. I don't recall hearing Ratliffs name all day. Scary. Either that or TB really has a good O line.
  • Barber and Felix had no catches...that has just got to happen...get those dudes into space, let them do their thing.
  • Romo has to throw the jump ball to Marty B...and when you see the Defense acknowledging your going to Marty B. hell, run the draw.
  • Converted only 30% of third downs...need to get better.
  • Overall kind of an ugly game with some big plays showing what the O is capable of. But the big picture is that it was a Road Win early in the season that helps the conference record for us. Football is back and fun.
Also, I want to thank everyone on the chat board today...that was fun and is a good outlet... and thanks to those who posted stream links to the game...tough being a Cowboys fan here in Buffalo.

another year and another year of soft pathetic zones from Wade's Defense. made Leftwich look decent which is beyond pathetic. but on a positive i loved the Special Teams (helps that we got a real ST coach now) and loved our run game. We didnt have that many offensive plays so i will let it go but Jones needs to touch the ball more. He is too much of a gamebreaker not to touch the ball at least 10 times.
