Let's think about this for a second guys....how many times last year did we go up against a team that had a poor run defense and a good pass defense only to see BP calling alot of passing plays? And vice versa? Too many times. I remember watching those games maoning about why were were trying to go after their strength as opposed to their weakness....I could only chalk it up to us out-thinking ourselves....meaning that the coaches were in their meeting saying "OK guys, they are weak against the pass, so they think that we will pass, so in order to fool them, lets go at them and run the ball."

He said he had final approval...plus, it is a game-plan that is established prior to the game. The game-plans dictated it...therefore, he approved of it.

I get your point. We get cute. Like that end around to Glenn that always takes us out of field goal range, or that blitz of Plummer on Turkey Day last year that was the only time we blitzed and they hit us for a TD on 3rd and long. There seems to be at least one play like that every game.

i think if we can have success running the football, thats what we should do, do what works, keep the colts off off the field and limit their opportunities, id rather let them have the least amount of possessions as possible. the more chances they have the more likely they'll burn us eventually. and when we have the ball we need to take advantage of every opportunity, need td not fg's i think thats a good game plan, look at what the lowly titains done rushing for over 200yds and kept peyton on the sideline and almost pulled it off losing 14-13. and we have a lot more talent and offensive weopons. we can win this game, this could be the game that gets the boys going, if they can win this in convincing fashon, think of the confidence that will go through the oganization. it could start a run that gets us to 12-4.
go big D

ZONERS

I have read numerous reports, saying in order for us to beat the Colts our Cowboys must run the football often to keep Manning off the football field--which on the surface sounds valid.

However, Don't you ZONERS believe we should stay balanced? Pass/run approx 50-50 to win the game......we are just to good with ROMO to settle on running a greater percentage of the time--IMO.

Big Question: if Big Bill does decide to gameplan for more running in this game, can OUR OFFINSIVE LINE run block enough to win a game by running the ball down INDY's throat? I don't feel good about it.

Am I wrong? What do you ZONERS believe we should do? :star:

we should run alot

the key to taking their DEs out of the game is to run right at them, stretch them out, then heavy doses of play-action, run often, and early, that's the key for us IMO

but we should be balanced

I dont buy into the "you need to run to setup the pass" because then the argument can be "passing sets up the run"

while true, if you're successful running the football, play-action becomes much more effective, and that's a play ROmo excels at
