Cedrick Wilson anybody

High correlation between draft position and success.

Which is why the OP used the exact words "he may still bring something to the team next year" about Wilson.

Then all the dumb takes showed up.

Totally agree, both Cooper and Gallup will be better next year with an offseason to get their timing down with Dak.

Noah Brown and Wilson (assuming he makes the team) should be better with the normal improvement you see from young players. Brown is still a year and a half younger than Calvin Ridley and Wilson is the same age.

Replacing Beasley is a wildcard but I think we bring Tavon Austin back and draft a WR in the 3rd or 4th round. That gives you six guys with youth (except Austin) and talent.

I agree on all of that.

Loved him at Boise State. Has the ability to make a big play and was great at contesting some tough catches with his good size. He didn't come across to me as a super flashy player but was very dependable. I'm excited to see what he can bring to the table and hoping he can translate to the NFL.

How tall and what is his weight.
I looked at 3 different places and none of them agree.
Cowboys sight has him at 6-5, but weight says 6-2, click on his name, 6-5 and weight of Zero
Another sight says 6-2 and 197, a third has as of the draft 6-3 and 183.

We do need a bigger WR than we do have IMO, so if he is 6-3 to 6-5, but prefer in the 220 range.
I think he is supposed to be pretty fast though, which means the 6-2, 197 is more like it.

Combine eval.

Lack of speed makes the deep threat seem iffy, particularly with Dak's lack of touch and accuracy on deep balls.

Supposed to be a good route runner. Hard worker. Former highschool QB. Needs weight. Only 9 bench reps at combine.

Very complimentary review at BTB. College highlite reel at the end. Some nice catches, and in traffic.

Lacking speed, I'd like to see alot more weight on him to add more as a blocker to the run game. Had a number of passes in his highlite reel. He should keep it up. Could be fun.
I thought he was a deep threat.

You sure? "Smooth strider w/ the vertical wheels to stretch the field"

That's the sort of stuff I saw on him. Who said he has a lack of speed?

Link listed below that I haven't seen on here, found it interesting and havnen't read much about this guy, and how he may still bring something to the team next year.

Prior to the 2018 draft, I had these as the top 3 route runners at WR in the draft:

  • Calvin Ridley
  • Michael Gallup
  • Cedrick Wilson

Route running is more important for WRs with Dak as the QB than uber-athleticism.

As compared to T.Williams, Wilson has:
Similar Speed (average timed forty but was a punt returner)
Better short area numbers.
Much better Vertical.
Much bigger Hands.

College coaches don't use slow players as punt returners...

I'm high on C. Wilson. Liked him pre-draft and was glad he was still there in the 6th. Fits the route running ability Sanjay Lal likes.

Will he pan out, or take on a big role? No clue. Just thought he did well in college and it could translate here.

Which is moderate and reasonable take. No wonder it's so offensive to our trolls.

heard nothing but good things about him in ota's and camp. could be another gallup. as for t.will, sooner we get rid of him the better.

I still believe they should keep Terrance as a veteran presence and because he would make a decent backup.

T.Williams was never as bad as many people claimed. He was a decent route runner and had decent speed/quickness.

His biggest issue is that he has very small hands for an NFL WR. He was also terrible at tracking deep balls.

Based on both on-field and off-field actions including interviews, he is not very intelligent.

If anyone on the team needs a fresh start with another team, it's TWill.

Also Dallas fans are conditioned to think of the Slot WR as a small shifty guy because Beasley has been the starter for six years but we will probably see a lot more snaps with guys like Noah Brown or Wilson in that position next year. Wilson doesn't have to beat out Gallup to justify a roster spot, he can be a quality backup if he gets catches from multiple positions.

That's his base salary. His cap hit is 4.75 this year and 5.25 next year. We'd save 2.5 if we cut him this year and 4 if we cut him next year.

I agree his contract isn't that bad. But his off field combined with injuries makes him unreliable. Id take him to camp with an open competition.

He could be useful as a back up option if bease wants too much and hurns isn't ready. If he's close to hurns in camp, we save more money cutting hurns.

But both his off the field problem and the injury that cost him a lot of time were one time things. There is no past history of either. I really think some of the problem people have with him is they felt early in his career there was at least a chance to be a top level #2 who could step in to the #1 role in a pinch, and when he turned out to be less than that the fans turned on him. I'm not going to be upset either way it goes, but in fairness, he would be a nice luxury as the #3-4 WR.

Yep, I watched him a lot at Boise. I was shocked that he ran a 4.5 at the combine because all he did was run away from everybody at Boise. He's a really good player without the ball in his hands too.

Agree.

Wilson has good short area quickness and the route running savvy to be decent in the slot.

Brown in the slot would hide the fact that it's going to be a run play when he motions down from outside.

Amari Cooper has a good of short area quickness as any WR in the NFL, IMO. He could convert a lot of 3rd downs from the slot.
