Are you suggesting the owners get together and discuss what they can do collectively “to fix it”? If that were legal, which it isn’t, it still would not happen.
They have "owners meetings" where everything about league operations is discussed. To think they don't discuss these things seems naive. The real issue is the cap as a whole. Every team spreads their money as they see fit. The cap assures everyone of huge profits & players benefit from ever expanding salaries. Ie, there isn't anything to fix from their overall perspective. Middle & lower parts of the roster get underpaid so the big dogs can eat. From a common sense standpoint, it's a problem to pay a lesser player equal or more.

It needs to be stopped and my hope is they all collectively decide a percentage of cap that is allowed at each position and you cannot pay that position over that.

Or

You do like the NBA and have max contracts that require you to meet certain prerequisites to qualify for said contract.
Any changes that involve player compensation have to be agreed upon by the players. The only thing the NFLPA will agree to is a program that benefits the players. The NFL has more teams than the NBA and each team has five times the number of players than an NBA team. NBA players play five times the number of games per season than NFL players. The owners are never going to consider a compensation plan remotely similar to the NBA’s as their league is not remotely similar to the NBA.

I’m sure it’s discussed at length. Any changes, however, must be collectively bargained with the players’ union. I’m sure it’s a topic of conversation among union players’ reps, too. They are all free to talk about it amongst themselves. Changes must be mutually agreed upon and ratified by the players. Can’t get around those pesky Federal labor laws.

Exactly .....not to mention the NBA teams can win championships with 2-3 superstars. The rest are role players.......the bottom line, the NBA model would never work in the NFL.

But to be honest, I don't see the problem. Players are making more money coz teams and owners are making more.

I guess the question is will he take less than Jefferson and if so, how much less? Probably not much........as a matter of fact, Jefferson could see his numbers go down a bit over the next couple of years with a rookie QB.

Pay the stats and get a big fat zero for your money.

The main difference between the two players is just their rookie years, when CeeDee as playing behind Amari Cooper. Jefferson became the #1 option as a rookie. CeeDee didn’t become the #1 option until his 2nd season. Is that on the player, or the coaches? Or is it just differing circumstances?

Lamb knew he was going to wait till Jefferson signed to even begin negotiations. The Clampetts could call his agent and they would have gotten a dial tone period.
