Cesar Ruiz

Regardless, not my point.

The OP is about the team having zeroed in on any one player at this point. They should not IMO.

I ANY draft you are targeting certain players and hoping they fall to you.

I really can not see them going offense early with how Badly we need defensive help.

Trading back means you have to have another team willing to do that, also what has happened so far with the first 16 picks as there are always a couple of surprises. Will there be an offensive lineman somebody else wants and is willing to move Up, is Jordan Love still there and is there a team that really wants him?? Right now it's only speculation..

I would rather trade up in the 2nd round for Biadasz from Wisconsin that trade down in the first for Ruiz.

I have no idea what you are talking about with someone not playing a snap.
Sorry. Wrong guy.

Teague said McGovern hasn't played a snap so we dont know what he is, but if we draft Ruiz all is well.

Which is illogic as it gets.

As far as targeting players, of course, but not one in particular and plan the whole draft around getting him. Not when you're picking 17.

Sorry for the mixup. I mixed you two up.

So I read the article where the Egirls were interested in Ruiz. Quotes Matt Miller as having him rated as best interior O Lineman in draft and 27th best overall. Said he would work well in zone blocking scheme. More importantly at 6 4 and 320 is athletic enough to play LG. LG as we know is also a position that is unsettled. If there is nobody else they love at 17 and traded back and took him, I would feel a little better about it m. I think Egirls go WR on their 1st pick regardless.

I don’t think there’s a 1st round C in the draft and also believe we had a 2nd round grade on McGovern who played an entire season at C in college. I’d need to know the prospect was a significantly better OL prospect than McGovern to pull the trigger and I’m not sure that player exists this year.

Id be ok taking a mid round C to develop but would much rather target bigger positions of need.

the source isn't from the Cowboys obviously...so i say its a.) from a rival....or b.) a team that wants to take Ruiz early and is justifying it to their fan base.....Dallas was gonna take him so we had to move.

their is no way they could zero in on their pick not knowing who is actually going to be there.

i don't think this is true.
it could be.
but i don't believe it.

I'd say we started to hear about LVE, Hill a week ahead of the draft. Same with many of our first picks in recent years. The team telegraphs interest in a player. Rarely is it a surprise who they take, outside of Mo Claiborne.

sure they do.
the 30 visits are usually tea leaves and hints.
plus...connected Cowboys reporters usually help in narrowing it down.
this didnt come from them.
it came from outside that circle...most likely another teams f/o person.
none of the stuff previously came like that.
and from what they've been hearing...the player they're "in-love with" is Ou LB Kenneth Murray.
to my knowledge....none of them have said anything about Ruiz.
its been Murray or Chaisson.

again....it could be true.
but i don't think it is.
the anon personnel person is trying to connect dots...in my opinion.
if guys like Broaddus and the like start chirping about Ruiz...then its probably true.

maybe the anon personnel guy peter king referenced is with the eagles...they take Ruiz then say "we stold Dallas' guy".

NFL.COM last year gave Connor McGovern a 6.2 grade...good back-up who could develop into a starter.

Cesar Ruiz...6.4...starter within 2yrs.

I'm very intrigued by the idea of our OGs being Martin and McGovern with Ruiz in the middle.
thats neanderthal nasty in the trenches.
