Cesar Ruiz

I read a scouting report on Rotoworld that compared Ruiz to Travis Frederick, and when I watch him move to the 2nd level and start hunting LBs, I can absolutely see it. Dude is going to be a great zone center.

I don't think he has the raw strength to dig Snacks Harrison out of the A gap like Frederick had, but hey, that's why Frederick was a 3x All-Pro.

I am not going to waste time reviewing o-line this year, because I will be pissed off if we draft one in the 1st or 2nd day.

We need skill positions this draft. No big bodies! We have drafted thousands of OLine for the last 10 years.
Time to draft Secondary or Wideouts. No one else matters.

Not condoning a trade back for Ruiz as the #1 plan, but I would certainly prefer that to taking someone like Diggs or Murray at 17 if our board gets wiped out.

But that's probably not going to happen. Like someone else pointed out, 3 QBs and 4 tackles will probably go before 17. Someone like Chaisson or Henderson will still be there.

Prospect Grade 6.37
Will be starter within first two seasons score was not a Pro-Bowl Grade

In my views no way at #17 they would have to be at bottom of 1st Round for this to make sense.
That's what I was thinking NFL.com has him at 39. For what it's worth, I think Zierlein is one of the better draft analysts out there he reminds me a little of Joel Buchsbaum. A few years ago when everybody had DLaw ranked really low he had him as the second or third best Edge rusher. His rankings don't always follow the order that the players are picked in but he's a very good evaluator. This year he has Jaylon Johnson as the third best CB after Henderson so it will be interesting to see how he turns out. He might not be the third one picked but I'll bet someone (maybe the Cowboys) gets a steal. Other analysts must think so too. Early on when I was doing the OnTheClock simulator the Matt Miller big board was way off. Shortly after NFL.com published their grades at the combine that big board changed and was very similar to NFL.com

On phone so cant post partial article but according to Bleacher Report quoting Peter King the Cowboys have honed in on him as their pick and love him. Article says 17 is too high and wont be there at 51. So either a trade back or a trade up from 51 if put any stock in this, or pure smoke screen.
If this story is true the Cowboys are a joke. Hey NFL here's who we like so if you're interested in him you'll need to trade up ahead of us to pick him.

Obviously no one really knows, but there’s enough smoke at this point to think that Henderson making it to 17 is a long shot at best. I wouldn’t count on that at all.
Chaisson? Maybe, decent chance. Kinlaw’s recent medical concerns is making it harder to see though...

1.Burrow
2.Tua
3.Herbert
4.Willis
5.Becton

8.Lamb
9.Jeudy
10.Ruggs
11.Okudah
12.Henderson
13.Young
14.Brown

Personally I see those 14 as locks to go before us...the next 2 will be dicey imo. Chaisson could easily go and it would create a near nightmare scenario for us if a trade back also isn’t available.

By next week we will have been linked to every player in the top 50. It’s all a game folks.

I like Jaylon Johnson alot especially at #51 in my view he might not be as good as CJ Henderson but not far behind. If they go Chaisson or a Safety in first round than Jaylon Johnson at #51 would be solid.

I think Simmons is a lock too. I didn't see him listed

I would rather trade up in the 2nd round for Biadasz from Wisconsin that trade down in the first for Ruiz.
Wouldn’t need to trade up, probably get Biadasz in the 4th or 5th because of the medical concerns.

I would be thrilled with that.

Biadasz is the classic center prospect who’s production and success in college outweighs his NFL ceiling. When this happens I often overrate them because I value college success in linemen so highly, but I expect Biadasz to be a solid starter early in his career. Like all Wisconsin linemen, he’s been really well coached and can excel in a number of different blocking schemes. While he doesn’t possess elite strength or athleticism, he’s above average in both regards and has flexible hips while bending well. He was the Rimington trophy winner and a consensus first team All American for a reason, and should be able to translate his intelligent play to the next level.

2019 Stats
14 games, 3 years as a starter at center, Consensus 1st Team All-American, All-Big 10 1st Team

Why spend a first Rounder on Ruiz when you can drop two rounds down and get the second best Center who was the Rimington trophy winner and a consensus first team All American for a reason, and should be able to translate his intelligent play to the next level
