CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders add Trey Lance to their negotiating rights list

I’m no Lance fan and the trade made no sense for Dallas but he isn’t so bad to where he shouldn’t get an NFL backup job.

His problem is he needed reps with a non contender, but for some reason GM Jerry thought the Dallas bench would work out well for everyone.
There was no way that Jerry was gonna showcase him for some other team after that abysmal signing on opening day. Without that as a factor it would have been a win/ win to play Lance.

After that commitment all Jerry could do was to keep Lance on the shelve in order to give him a low ball offer (In which he did). Jerry screwed him Royally then had the nerve to ask Lance to stay. Jerry probably even told him that he was young and in 2 years the Job would be His.

I am for sure Lance was like ***** you, you shiesty *******. Problem for Lance the opportunity to play which was denied him is not on his resume. So his question mark status and the time he needs to develop will not command a hefty contract.

In all honesty he should have taken Jerry's offer. But Pride is a Mofo so His only option will be to develop in the CFL. There is no shame in it and it is something he should be thankful to have an opportunity to do

Does nobody want him or is it taking time to sift through all the offers because he has so many?

Even other countries want him.
@CWR you just had to like this. You couldn't let one of his post slide without a like? Sheesh, one day it will happen. I know it will

I cannot wait-and-see if Trey Lance ends up in the CFL. That will spark a few more Jerry Jones-related comments out of me than normal (which is usually a fair amount).
Of course it will, doesn't make it right.

it still doesn't alleviate what you should be having more criticism for a team that risk three first round picks for the guy and got nothing out of them just because Jerry gave a fourth for him and everyone thinks that's Oh my God crazy...
it's the team that drafted him that's at fault for him being in the league in the 1st place, this happens a lot more this is not a Jerry Jones problem,
this is a league problem trying to find quarterbacks that usually reach for them.. so many bad QB picks in the first round that's a fact, but all over really.
I mean when you could find better players in the third or fourth round where they belong like Prescott could have been a first round pick top of the second round at worst because of his DUI he dropped.. but that's where a lot of these guys need to go in the fourth round or later but they're being the first round at least jerry didn't do that. San Francisco wasted three first round picks didn't get nothing out of him, that's a fact that should be where the criticism lies.

by the way going to the CFL and then coming back a better player would be a positive,

some guys took that long route you remember like Warren moon and Herschel Walker they went and played in other leagues first, we got Brandon Aubrey, Turpin, and Butler from the UFL, so I don't see how that's an egg on the face moment some guys need some work before they get to the NFL and san Francisco's to blame for drafting this kid so high and putting all these expectations on him....

Just because somebody put in for the negotiating rights doesn't mean he has to play for them in my opinion he should go to the UFL if he wants that experience because it doesn't really interfere with the NFL.. He could probably get more out of that and treat it like an offseason training camp come late in the preseason for the NFL and be better for it like he he would have a lot of experience and be warmed up and in a groove... ready for a true second chance.

I believe if a team wanted to invest and most don't but I've seen other guys get more opportunities than Lance did he can literally play all 17 games with a team that's patient and has a good coaching staff and have the focus to get this guy better I think he would have been better already buried on the bench isn't gonna help he would be better to go to one of these leagues just for that fact I don't think he's done in the NFL I've seen worse quarterbacks the second or third string for a decade and just float around the NFL and i don't think they're that much better than him...

Oh and by the way I'm not saying Jerry Jones doesn't deserve a lot of criticism but some of it is not warranted and this is one of them now if you wanna talk about the 4th they gave up for Mingo now that was stupid he would have probably been cut this offseason they could have picked him up for free I understand looking for prospects but the tree land steel I'm not against and him going to the CFL or the UFL is not a knock on Jerry Jones at all and it might be better for this kid 'cause I don't think he was given a proper chance...

Some players could use that rookie where they give him 17 starts and no matter what happens tell him you're not gonna be pulled and try to develop the guy it didn't happen so one of these places could get him back on track and get a second chance in the NFL and that's not a knock on Jerry that's a knock on the San Francisco 49ers they're the ones who moved up and used three first round picks on the guy that was absolutely dumb it was insane and yet Jerry's getting the criticism for bringing this kid over here for a simple 4th rounder I'm not opposed to bringing him back as a backup I know you guys are against it but I see something if he just can get his mechanics worked out in the passing game he's got lots of mobility he's not as bad as people are saying I mean this move wasn't as bad as say I don't know the Colts bailing out the eagles and trading all those draft picks for Carson wentz that's dumb all the dumb moves like Russell Wilson bringing to the Denver Broncos and then giving all that money Watson all those draft picks and all that money they gave him in Cleveland and he's still there and he plays like garbage he has history and baggage he's not a good person and yet they made moves like this.. I mean Daniel Jones getting $42 million and they chose him over saquon Barkley that's nuts but this is what happens with quarterbacks think about it all the bad moves made when it concerns quarterbacks either in the draft or teams thinking they can make a guy better this is not on Jerry....IMHO

Jerry is not the only one who takes risks this one wasn't the one you should be concentrating on..

Are you suggesting the Cowboys trading a 4th round draft pick for Trance is the 49ers fault because they brought him into the league?

Cowboys fans understandably concentrate on what Jerry Jones does, not what the owners of other teams do.

Jerry is an idiot.

I would think in his best interests getting to someplace where he can be a starter and get live reps. Tons of live reps would be in his best interest.

I don't think the NFL is where that is going to happen. Players have gone north before coming back to the US. Thiesmann, Brock, Ferragamo, Moon, Flutie and Garcia.

If Lance wanted to take a chance on himself, sitting on an NFL bench is not going to advance his career. Unless all he cares about is milking a backup spot and getting a high wage.

If wants to see if he can be an actual QB and read and react to defences, then the CFL may be a route to consider.
Even Jason Garret jad to go to the WFL

I am a Dallas fan. Why should I criticize the actions of the San Francisco's front office?

Your viewpoint suggests criticizing what another team does should hold some value for a non-fan of that team. Perhaps that is true for some fans but not necessarily for me. I care what Dallas does. I do not necessarily care what one or 31 other NFL teams do.

Oh, for Pete's sake. I replied to your initial 502-word reply thinking you got everything out of your system. Yet you added another reply to my single post by tacking on a 432-word 'Oh and by the way' follow-up to your original comment?

Who do you work for? Guinness Book of World Records? And here I was thinking my 368-word post today in another thread would piss off other members with my long-windedness, lol.

Really ?

so now you're lying to all of us?

you don't care what other teams do?!!

we don't constantly talk about the eagles or San Francisco or the all in teams that every time there's a signing by another team in free agency it gets blown up here... you're trying to tell me that you don't care what other teams are doing but only the Cowboys that means we're not allowed to post every time somebody else has a player up for a trade, or makes a big trade, or is faster at signing players, or brings over bigger names, and free agency, or how their draft picks went, because that's pretty much 80% of this place complaining what other teams are doing versus what ours is doing that means I get to bring up San Francisco made the big mistake first much larger mistake and all the other mistakes teams make Jerry makes as well that's the point... Literally how many Twitter feeds or feeds from the sports world that every time another team does something that you think Jerry should do all of y'all post it you make an effort to make sure we know what other teams are doing and so will I....

If you're going if you're going to take the energy every day to mock with the Cowboys are not doing by comparing them to other teams, then I'll do the same thing seems fair to me...:)))
