CFP thread

No. I actually went to an SEC school. I'm not a bandwagon fan of a school like you.
So what? You thus say you cannot be a real fan of a school unless you attended it? So you are saying the tens of millions of people who are fans of schools are invalid because they did not go there?
That is like saying you cannot be a fan of the cowboys unless you live in Dallas.

This has always fascinated me............. the fans of a "conference". So you went to SEC School A and will then defend SEC School B just because they happen to be in the same conference as you.

Why doesn't this kind of unity carry over to pro sports? In other words, why are you not defensive of NFCE teams then in the playoffs?

Scoreboard SEC!

Pro-football-reference.com has the all-time list of players. I would be willing to bet the SEC still wins on that too.

It makes absolutely no sense to root for a school you never attended or at least have a parent, sibling, or child attend. That is the definition of a bandwagon fan. You just latched onto ND bc you associate the schools football program with prestige you think somehow rubs off on you........ bc you get to wear the schools gear.

I have never bought any sports wear
but then again you have this narrow belief that only you are right about everything
People choose to root for who they choose to root for
you are basically saying no one has freedom of choice
AND I NOTICE you avoided my point about the Cowboys

Just to clear up the stupidity spouted by some here

They claim you can only be a real fan if you attended a school

which means in the pros you can only be a fan of your home town or home area team.

Which means no one has freedom of choice

pretty pathetic

another point
Say you were a fan of Pedo state; legitimately according to some fools here
you despise what happened with Paterno; believed he was very guilty
BUT according to some fools here you must still be a fan

so the more members in a conference changes the numbers

you need education in basic logic

One could also point out that most of the football schools generate the most picks
FOOTBALL SCHOOLS
think on that
Well, you clearly were never in any danger of attending ND. I'm done trying to break this down into small enough pieces for you to understand.

I am not sure what this even proves.

It's not debatable, that for a long stretch here, the SEC was the dominant conference. They just were. They dominated the NCs, led the NFL in talent placed in the NFL, etc.

But over the last few years, that power center has shifted in large part due to NIL and the way the transfer portal now works. It will be interesting to see what bears out over the next 3-4 years, but for now, you even have SEC wonks like Finebaum and others in the media admitting that there appears to have been a shift in power as the landscape in college football has changed.

It's bizarre that SEC fans have trouble admitting this. The SEC still is a great conference and right there with the BIG as the best conference. But when it was clear 5-10-15 years ago that the SEC was the king, that's certainly quite debatable now. And for some reason, SEC fans are soiling their underwear over this.

The SEC dominance was mainly due to Saban and Alabama. Take that dynasty away and the playing field is exactly like it looked like this year

Ehhh Georgia was in there too. And overall, the conference tended to do better in bowls than others and put more players in the NFL.

But that started to shift in the last 4-5 years and SEC fans are really struggling with accepting that reality.

Lol. It’s like you don’t even pay attention.

Literally, 5 of the last 18 college football champions were non-Alabama SEC teams. 2 were LSU, 2 were Georgia, and 1 was Auburn.

Literally, more than 25% of recent college football champions were non-Alabama SEC teams.
But sure… The SEC dominance is mainly due to Alabama.

It is a fact that the SEC dominated college football for a couple decades. Alabama was a large part of that but certainly not the only one.

It is also a fact that in the three full seasons since NIL was legalized, the SEC has not only not won a championship, but they’ve been shut out of the championship game. They had been in 15 of the previous 16 CFP/BCS finals.

Is there a cause-and-effect there? Some would say 3 is too small of a sample size. Others would say the turnaround is too drastic to ignore.

Correct. The Big 10 had 2 teams that were better than anyone in the SEC. Thats a first. Whether it continues remains to be seen.
