Michael Irvin called out Champ last night on Monday Night Countdown.

Something to the effect of "Hey Champ, if you're the best CB in the league, why do you get beat everytime you line up against a good WR?"

However, no one is more overrated than the other CB playing that night ... Charles Woodson. He may have been good before the inuries, but right now that guy has a big bag of nothing.

B.P. made a point that I totally forgot about.........You all say we got the worse side of the deal but, champ was gone anyways. Either we get something or we don't.......I choose the first one......Portis was not gonna play for us because the Broncos had full intentions of trading him, NOT releasing him........the fact that the FO even pulled that off proves a lot of guts. ( Regardless of past screw-ups) eg:Brunell......

I was over at Extreme Skins earlier today and there were some Commanders fans were saying that Springs was the best cornerback in the NFL, so I guess I know where you're coming from. When subject to THAT kind of homerism, you will eventually believe it.

I never said "NO back can run with 8 in the box." I said it is only possible with effective playaction ( which we do bad and brees & flutie do well )
Or an excellent line ( which on paper SD has ) For the record Tomlinson did run well even with 8 MITB but thats because he's the best in the league and portis isn't. Not to mention L.T. is A LOT BIGGER!!!....

I don't reacll saying he was GREAT, and if you know ANYTHING about football you would know speed backs play better under Zone Blocking schemes......esp if the line underachieves

If portis had the blocking to get 80+ yards AVERAGE a loss we wouldn't even be discussing this. He averages about 150 when they win so obviously that has to tell you they can't win unless portis gets help......Shawn Springs is playing better than Champ Bailey and frankly so is smoot.......people are not scared to go after Champ......thats the differece between the defenses.......We don't give them time to go after anything. As for some kid saying Springs is the best.....so what.....If I didn't say it don't bring it up....that kid has the right to his own opinion, just like you think westbrook is the best back in the Nfc......As bad as portis is playing he still averages 25 more yards than your beloved westbrook........Portis would have more scores if they had more opportunities though......I guess westbrook has got him there.......

edit:.....Also to imply Dillion would be a beter back in this offense MAY be true because he does run with more power BUT the power backs on the team Rock Cartwright and Ladell betts can't get it done either.....

Well, I sort of know football and I know that we do not zone block. Westbrook is a speed back.

He has been doing okay in our system. Also, I never said he was the best back in the NFC, I actually said he was not great and that Barber was better than him (twice in this thread). He is a solid back, a good starter on a good team who gets it done when he gets the ball in his hands. Just because I said he was a better back than Portis does not mean I think he is the best, that title goes to either Barber, Green, Alexander, Davis or McAllister.

Well...obviously they are doing something that fits westbrooks style........I didn't say all speed backs have lines that zone block. ( thats generally college and highschool) but if done in the NFL....( denver being the best I've ever seen ) it works well......

as for best in the Nfc.....hmmm....I'd take 3-4 backs in the afc over any of those nfc backs......
