Ive said it before and I still think it will happen.

This season is all about sweating Romo and the coaching staffs contracts. Romo will be a June 1st cut. Unless we go to the playoffs, the entire coaching squad is gone.

Our next coach will inherit a promising young talented team, anchored by a great OL, which has under performed under Garrett. Good building blocks for success.

Things that make you go "hmmm..."

I think it would have to be a melt down style repeat of last year. That would force Jerry to act. Close to .500 football and he's safe.
I think he's on a tighter leash than that. With Dak proving so far he can win some games, Garrett doesn't get the Romo going down pass this season. There's too much talent on this roster to not compete and 500 ball is not competitive. I think less than 9 wins and no playoffs equals a new coach. JJ only has so many lucid years left, he's in win now mode too.

Is there a chance at all that Garrett gets canned after this season?

If so, what record will it take? I see the team losing at least 7 more games easily. Ideally, the team just quits on him like they did with Wade. We have Green Bay right before the bye. It's very possible that Rodgers can drop 50 on this defense.

Garrett is so quick to throw players under the bus to save his own butt, that I am not sure why anyone would want to play for him at this point.

Blitzen, I think the chances of him getting fired this year are almost zero. If you look at all of the talent missing off of the field currently (Romo, Dez, Tyron, Scandrick, Hanna, Lawrence, Collins, McFadden, Gregory, McClain, Tapper, and Nzoacha) we are still winning.

If anything, the fact we are winning with a rookie 4th round QB probably makes the leash longer, for Garrett not shorter. Our depth is better now than at any time since Garrett took over.

I will say this ... I think that the Giants loss is more on the coaching staff than the players but since that time they have done a much better job than in years past. The biggest issue I have with coaching currently is I am concerned that Marinelli may be the weakest link in the chain.

I don't get this. The man gets very few decent players to work with yet is expected to make a championship defense with them.

People for some reason cannot separate what a coach does from the talent he does it with when those two things are going in different directions.

I don't think they have been completely void of talent. I agree it is a chicken or the egg kind of thing. You would think that better players will net better results. I do think this defense can get more pressure than it has, even with these same players. Some teams seem to get it done every year, even when they are expected to have a bit of a down year. I am not sure the game hasn't passed Marinelli by, but hopefully for our team's sake, that isn't the case.

To be fair, I don't think you have heard me say this defense is championship caliber. I do think they have enough talent, barring injury to be top half, especially with the offense keeping teams off the field by dominating time of possession. I don't think this defense sucks, or should suck, as bad as many on this board. So let's keep it in the proper context.
