Just wanted to see what you guys think of Davis possibly moving back to LT. Do you think thats why we didnt sign and probably wont sign flo. I just cant see jerry jones putting a young unprooven McQuistan or Free out there at Lt to protect romo's blind side just to risky. L davis isnt great himself out there but hes better than those 2 guys. We should move Mcquistan or Free to the Gaurd and put Davis back at LT, hes not great but i would think he would be better than those 2. Your Thoughts?

Bigg to replace a departed Flo? Whatever the odds are - I'd sure like to see them reduced. Cuz that move is the double-whammy. Now you've lost a ProBowl LT - AND a ProBowl RG... makes no sense. Power is Davis' gig - not technique and lateral movement.

Whatever happens at LT should not, and let me repeat: SHOULD NOT cause the Cowboys to even consider shifting Davis to LT. That would be stupid beyond belief. We're talking Phoenix Cardinals-stupid. And, brothers, THAT - is some kinda stupid.

I hope those chances are nil as Davis sucked at LT for the Cards and is nowhere near mobile enough to play the position in the NFL. If we don't re-sign Adams then I would rather take my chances with McQuistan or Free or spend one of our 1st rounders on an OT than to move Davis over there. He is excellent right where he is at RG and I would prefer to see us replace Flozell with someone else if we have to.

Personally, unless the coaching staff is convinced that either McQuistan or Free can step in we should stop screwing around and just sign Flo to a contract quickly.

Intersting thread! I'm not in the norm here for sure. IMHO if the Boys let Flo walk, but do not pick up a vet LT, it all depends on the 2-3 guys we have. IMHO, if McQ, Free and Marten can't cut it in training camp, at LT, then the Boys plan is, and always was since they gave him 50 million $, is BIGG moves to LT.

NOT SAYING i think BIGG to LT is the best move, just dusting off the crystal ball as to what the Cowboys front office is thinking. ;)

First of all its not that stupid.Yes L davis was average at best with the cards, but if the coaching staff dont see anything in our other guys id rather have him than McQ or free protecting romo. So many of us think that getting rid of flo isnt as bad as it seems and that whoever we put in there would do just fine, well i highly doubt that. Flozell was a beast and if he doesnt stay i would be pissed. Trent cole and Osi will have there way with any of our backups and we all know it.:bang2:

Bigg needs to stay at Guard, he'll go to several more pro bowls at that position.

And you think Davis will fare better against those speed merchant DEs/OLBs? Based on what? He has the experience to be a stopgap OT in a pinch. But face it... we already know Davis wasn't meant to play OT - nevermind LT.

And meanwhile we are also weakened at the RG position... sure, let's compound the problem with yet another downgraded OL position.

No thanks.

That is true, im just saying id rather have a guy thats been there before than 2 backups who show nothing in training camp

Both guys showed a lot in TC but neither was going to beat out Adams for the starting job.

Free and McQuistan have to be allowed the opportunity to display what they have just like Flozell was. The league is littered with starting OTs who WEREN'T drafted in the second round or higher. And if Adams isn't resigned OT may factor high in the Cowboys draft plans. But it is still unlikely that draftee will make any impact this upcoming season.

I'd love to see the cowboys afford to resign Flo. I just don't see that happening so I'm preparing for "plan B" - whatever the **** that turns out to be. Davis to LT shouldn't be part of that plan. Two negatives make a positive in mathematics - but not in football.

Hopefully absolutely none. Pro Bowl at guard at LT bust for his career so far hopefully thats a no brainer.:crossed:

I don't even want to think or talk about it as it may make it happen.:

I'm hoping we can still get Adams sign to a cap friendly contract. If not, then I only see our 2 options at LT as Doug Free or Pat McQuistan. I think we are about $15M under the cap. The way I figure it Hamlin' franchise tag costs us about $4.5M, MBIII tender $2.5M, Canty $2.05M, draft pool $5-6M so there's little money to re-sign Adams unless I've got the wrong info. So this decision by Jerry must be totally or business or Hudson Houck has looked at all the game & practice film and believes McQuistan, Free or even Davis can be coached up to start at LT with one of our TEs chipping in to help out. I'm really hoping it will be McQuistan or Free so Davis can remain at RG.

BTW: Somebody posted number of sacks given up by each Cowboy OL and Kosier was shown with 0. I thought I saw too many opponents coming up the middle to accept that statistic. Gotta wonder how much better our OL looks with Romo being able to get out of the pocket to make plays.

I think it will be a move that MUST be considered. In the salary cap era....you cannot stay ahead of the game paying what we paid for Leonard Davis to play guard. I was never a big fan of the signing for him to play guard. Stop looking at ANYTHING he did in a Cards uniform...much like you cannot judge Randy Moss on anything he did as a Raider. It is much easier to find another guard than it is to find another LT. I think he will go out there and perform well if we ask him too.

Bigg is not quick enough to handle the Freeny's and Osi's of the NFL. Simple as that.

so when necessary...line Fasano up next to him to chip...listen...we drafted Fasano in the 2nd round...he needs to make himself useful

One of our GREAT strengths this year is that we did not have to give our tackles much help. If we put Bigg there we have to help him against virtually every top pass rusher in the NFL. No thanks.
