Change is in the air

There seems to be change in the air at the Star these days. I don’t remember, in recent history anyway, they’ve been this active in attempting to fill holes. Don’t be quick to poo poo the free agents as they signed some quality depth there. Not top tier talent but better players than in the past. As everyone should know, you must have quality depth to compete for a Super Bowl because they will be put to the test at some point during the season. As an example of the changes just look at the 2024 RB depth chart compared to 2025:

2024 RB room

* Rico Dowdle
* Ezekiel Elliott
* Dalvin Cook
* Hunter Luepke
* Duece Vaughn

2025 RB room as of May 7th

* Jayden Blue
* Javonte Williams
* Miles Sanders
* Phil Mafah
* Hunder Luepke or Duece

That’s a solid upgrade to the running backs room. Bruisers as well as quickness. Exciting.

The Pickens trade has really got me excited not only becuase he’s one of the best WR’s in the NFL but it signals that theres a change underway in the philosophy of how Jerry and Stephen run the show.

Resigning Osa, Turpin and Hoffman show they got ahead of those contracts which is something they’ve had difficulty doing. Parsons is unsigned but so is Purdy, Trey Hendrickson and TJ Watt.

Trades:
  • Acquired QB Joe Milton III and a 2025 seventh-round pick from the New England Patriots: in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round draft pick.

  • Acquired WR Kaiir Elam from the Buffalo Bills: in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick.

  • Acquired LB Kenneth Murray from the Tennessee Titans: in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round pick.
  • Acquired WR George Pickens and a 2027 fifth round pick from the Pittsburgh Steelers: in exchange for a 2026 3rd round pick and 2027 fifth round pick
Free Agency Signings:
  • Signed WR Parris Campbell .
  • Signed OLB Dante Fowler Jr. .

It’s starting to look like the Cowboys may have a playoff team this year that could go far with some luck with injuries which every team needs.

Enjoy the season!
With luck, the Cowboys will improve the roster this much next off season.

Achieve that, now we're seriously talking January football again.

Jerry Jones may be acknowledging his mortality. Each coming season has an increased probability of being his last.

Jerry Jones wants to solidify his legacy.

Little does he know his legacy was cemented over a three-decade period and one championship season is not going to change that.

Ignoring obvious needs in FA
No change there
trading away draft picks for marginal players
outside of Pickens, no change there
ignoring deep classes at DT and RB both of which were serious needs
no change there
Big and Little Enos saying lots of stupid things
no change there

February 8, 2026--- I'll see you in Santa Clara, pal. Drinks on me.

Change in the air is just JERRY. He had a bad burrito. ;) . But seriously, you can see real effort by the Jones bunch. Looks like we are seeing what all in truly is. Unlike last year. The ire of one Jerry Jones is real, and we witnessed a man and what he's willing to do when he wants someone to suffer, in one MM. He allowed him to squirm, never truly offering any help. Yes, the Jones boys organically torpedoed the season in 2024.

You gonna disappear again if the Eagles and Commanders have us pretty much dead to rights in October?
Better than disappearing like Mountaineer does when we win. You guys calling him out for disappearing around here when we lose is really stupid. When we lose this place is depressing to be around because they let the inmates run the asylum.

Ignoring obvious needs in FA
Which obvious needs were ignored?
trading away draft picks for marginal players
Which draft pick did we trade away for marginal player, specific to this off-season?
outside of Pickens, no change there
Patently false. Also a need we had was addressed yet you minimize it by saying outside of Pickens no change Do you even think before you spout nonsense or just does it just flow?
ignoring deep classes at DT and RB both of which were serious needs
Literally drafted 2 RBs and a big DT
Signed 2 RBs and 2 DT in addition
Big and Little Enos saying lots of stupid things
Kind of like the one who made the post I'm replying to? Like the comments made by Jerry and Stephen (their names) have any bearing on win loss record.

Agree just wish we wouldn’t have gotten another top flight DT or LB
Besides that you can’t complain

you call sixth and seventh rd picks something; no one else does
You ignore so much its pathetic

They drafted three defensive linemen and signed 3 as free agents.

They are taking their shots.
garbage FA's and seventh rd picks are not taking shots; they are shooting blanks barring a lottery win

This has been one of the better offseasons in recent memory and this is what they should have been doing each offseason under McCarthy. There's still a lot that must come together with this team, but they've definitely upgraded the roster.

I still have questions about the RB room, though I'm excited for the competition. Wondering how the oline comes together, Dak's ability to rebound and put it together when the lights shine the brightest. We still need to find another DT and though we added some depth/rotational guys it's still a weakness especially at the 1.
