Flowers was the one that gave up the long ones.

Carr gave up a pretty sizable one himself to Austin in that game. Carr seemed to lose the ball in flight and Austin made a nice adjustment to make the play.

Any time a player is being rumored to be released this board goes crazy about signing him.

That's what 4 straight years of missing the playoffs will do to the FAN base. You know it's become desperate around here when Urlacher's name keeps coming up.

I'm not a fan, Flowers is a finesse cornerback not built for the way the NFL is changing its ways and is really just a slot corner at this point. Which is why the Chiefs are making him available in the first place.

I'm not saying that we should sign him, but he is certainly not a finesse player. The guy hits, and isn't afraid to tackle at all. He isn't a man cover corner like they tried to use him last year. He plays much better in a tampa 2 system.

Not a man Corner, too small

But we don't play much man to man with this new scheme. That is what has killed Carr.. he is a more physical CB and loves man to man. Flowers is more of a zone guy and last I checked he is a pro-bowler. It won't matter anyway, we can't afford Flowers. If KC wasn't so cap strapped they would keep him. If KC releases B-Flo, he will be picked up immediately by another team.

Excellent post. Sounds like you know your football.

I don't mean that he isn't a willing tackler, I mean that he can't bump-and-run. Sort of the opposite of what Mike Jenkins was in the year he played well. With press coverage becoming more and more important that makes someone like Flowers less and less valuable on this team. Scandrick is already a better inside corner than he is, and he wouldn't be an upgrade on the outside when they go to nickel with Scandrick inside.

Actually, very understandable as us Cowboy fans have been losing for so long, we are suckers for anything that "might" help us get into the playoffs........I know, I am one of them lol....GO COWBOYS!

If we didn't have mo or scandrick I'd be all for it but like you said he is going too get good $$

Another position we need to go with, with what we have, to see who steps up. We need decent depth over starters. Even though many don't think Carr or Mo are decent starters, but let's see how TC goes.
As for wanting to question to sign a player once released or possibly will be. Yes, it happens with just about every player. I even made comments in the past about it. But certainly understand it. And it's just a question, as to any interest for an off season topic. No harm in that. I would almost bet evey other team fan forum is asking the same question for those in need of DB's for starters or depth.

Brandon Flowers had an outstanding year in 2012. Top 3 in 2012.

2013 was easily Flowers' worst of his career. He just did not look like the same guy out there at all. After last year, I'd be reluctant to call him top 10. At age 28, he isn't old, but he very well could be on the decline and we may never see '12 Flowers again.

I'd pass on a 28 year old CB coming off a bad year. Nnamdi Asomugha went from the best corner in the league for a few years straight to a nobody at around the same age.
