Well... I respect your opine... but I could throw a few more names up there for mention...

I will keep Marino in there... for stats sake alone... but you can make cases for many others... Bradshaw... Staubach (you mentioned)... Fouts... Unitas...

Like you... I would keep it a short list... but you should reconsider Aikman... winningest QB in history within a decade...

That being said... I would take Staubach over Aikman any day as the choice QB of the Cowboys... not discounting Troy... but Roger was special...
I liked Fouts a lot, and on the other end of the scale... Fran T.

Jurgenson had a wonderful arm. So many wonderful talents over the years.

I don't consider greatness a product of stats, records, or even rings. But of an exceptional ability, one that is rare. If Marino didn't have all those passing records, I'd still consider him great. Likewise with Montana. Regardless of his success, he had an exceptional talent, very different from Dan's, but equally rare.

I've also seen just two runners in my lifetime I consider great. Sweetness and Sanders.

Well dang it Barb...

You have seen on this forum my criticism of Emmitt... but his durability alone warrants mention here... it certainly figures in the mix...

I still take exception with Montana... he was a nice QB... but a system QB nonetheless...

We agree to disagree on this one...

I also think Otto Graham warrants mention here as "great"...
