Said obviously may look at Stanback first to run it. However seriously considering drafting Pat White which we already knew, but then said one of the other players they were looking at to run it James Casey TE Rice. Huh? This guys is a TE and I'm not sure how quick he is. Also mentioned third name which escapes me now. All FWIW.

Casey ran out of the wildcat at Rice

and he's pretty athletic for a 240lb guy

Casey also throws a 90 plus fastball (drafted by MLB as a pitcher) and threw for a few TDs at Rice. And ran for a few.

Not to mention catching more than a few.

For the Casey non-believers .... nyah, nyah, nyah! LOL.

Charean Williams............

need I say more?

Also, you must have missed the article in here where he says he has not heard from Dallas.

I don't think Felix Jones heard from Dallas either

I think some brilliant poster posted a thread regarding Casey.

Wait, it was me! :D

I don't think we would take him in the 2nd (Casey), but I would not be shocked if we took him in the 3rd.

Do we have bigger needs?

Yes.

But the Bennett pick from last year surprised the heck out of me as well when it was announced.

I wouldn't put this past JJ.

One of the key questions is whether Casey can also block out of the backfield? I don't really know.

That said, I don't know why Stanback wouldn't be the first option? I know JJ wants him to focus on playing WR, but all we're talking about is a few gadget plays, correct?

That would be dumb to draft someone either in the 3rd or 4th to just package him into some plays..waste of a pick.

Educate me, isn't this the same scenario if Dallas takes Brace (or Delmas), who would play in only limited packages?

FYI, that would be more playing time than someone like Sidbury. As it stands, Sidbury is not only inexperienced (as in not ready for prime time) but even if he learns enough (limited pass rush technique) but would be buried behind Ellis and Spencer.

The only way Jerry and staff draft for the wildcat is if the HC and OC want him to.

Some people give way to much credit and blame to Jerry in the draft. The days of Sherman Williams and others are pretty much gone. The coaches and scouting dept are the main ones to develop the draft board but, most likely, Jerry has final say if there is a huge debate on moving one guy slightly ahead of another.

That settles it. Done deal. Jerry just can't resist minor league baseball players as QB's.:bang2:

Greg Ellis is set to cost about $ 6 million + dollars. The Cowboys are a 9-7 team and have been 3 out of the last 4 years.

Sidbury can learn on the job. You draft for the future, too.

I hope that is the case. Sidbury is extremely raw w/average production at low level competition. He is athletic, but he does not not have the "wow" factors I prefer_intangibles (work ethic/leadership/instinct/football IQ) or production. And for his size (6'3 260) he should be much tougher against the run.

I just hope that he is not another Kavika Pittman, for Sidbury's sake (and for the Cowboys if they go that route).

Casey could be a wildcat but he'd be a late round choice if at all for that use.
He's another older prospect.

I'd much rather use a guy like McGee or White in that role whom you felt you could actually use one day (i.e. 2 years when Kitna is gone) as the full time backup QB.

Casey is probably going to be rated as an HBack type to most teams.

I agree...its beyond stupid.

Any team that has a Tony Romo at QB and takes him out of the game for a gimmick is just giving an opposing defense exactly what it wants- get one of the best players in the league off the field.

Casey would also start at FB/H-Back. So playing wildcat QB would be IN ADDITION to starting at another offensive position.

A position, curiously enough, that needs upgrading. But I understand the hate, it displaces many peoples pet cats.

if we're going Wildcat, I'd seriously look at Darius Passmore, he's one of the most athletic players in the draft, at least the most fluid, has experience running from the WC, and could turn into a solid pro as a receiver

not sure he's much of a lead blocker, and he isnt better than Witten or Bennett in a 2nd TE type role...so my reply is the same...not interested

If you want to be sure watch some of his games. The guy is simply not an effective interior blocker and never was asked to do much in the way of blocking in Rice's spread offense.

Your also correct is saying he does not bring more to the table then Witten or Bennett at the the TE position. He simply also does not have the speed needed to line up wide in the NFL.

Basically your drafting a player to fill you "Wild Cat" fantasies and role play for a handful of plays each game.

Not what Dallas needs in a 2nd or 3rd round pick and not really what Dallas needs at all.
