I would take a chance on him with tempered expectations. He only has 11 career sacks in 5 seasons. Still, at some point, someone thought he was worthy of a first round pick. Maybe moving to right defensive end and working with Marinelli would increase his production.

His cap number was only 1.5M. When a 3-4 defense goes to Nickel which is often more than 50% of the time, they use a 4-man line. Even if he had issues at OLB, he could have played DE in the Nickel.

Yeah I would easily replace Rayford who has been with the team with an unknown with potential. I hear Wilson has actively fought coaching/mgmt on the switch to begin with. Who is he to complain?

Maybe it was about management cutting bait if they determined his sole role would be a nickel rusher after investing a 1st round selection; wasn't worthy of that minimal impact stalling any younger players from fitting that role .

We luck up with Selieve and few years back with Laurent. But at some point let's invest in some quality depth. Please don't be surprised if our D still suck.
