Really happy to see him get in. There are many reasons why the Cowboys were a dynasty in the 90's but Charles Haley brought a nastiness to that defense that put it all over the top.

Yes and Haley's attitude rubbed off on other players. I feel he and Ken Norton made that Dallas defense go, they were the leaders.

This is what champions are made of. The best on EVERY play. Not just some plays. This is why I have loved Charles Haley ever since he put on a Cowboys helmet. And that is why I have loved him every day since, regardless of his head case problems and rumours. Didn't matter to me, I loved him then and I still do today, and I am so happy that the Hall of Fame committee finally decided to recognize him as one of the greats that he is. He was so humble in his speech and so very happy, and so damned deserving. He was very classy and real tonight. And I LOVED his S bomb! Keepin' it real for the real folks! I just saw a man up there, receiving a much deserved and overdue award. Awesome. Love me some Haley! And always will!

His head case problems is an illness
Did you miss that part?

Great speech. I think his being so matter-of-fact about his depression/bipolar was pretty gracious. It could very well save the life of someone who had resigned themselves to suffering in silence rather than seeming weak.

Adrian Peterson probably heard the bit about Charles' mother and was like, ahem.

And his Jerry Jones impression was hilarious.
Yeah, the Jerry story was hilarious. I like the part about a 5 minute ride and knowing Jerry's entire life story.

No, I was referring to the way others have called him a head case over the years. I never did. And never held it against him.

Did you ever hear the story where Jimmy pulled him into the toilet area at halftime, flushed it and told him that's your career going down the toilet?

I don't think Jimmy would agree that Haley was going all out on all plays.

Yeah, I've heard it. There are several locker room stories of Haley, too. Scary ones. Doesn't mean he wasn't great and deserving of being in the HOF.

Good. I never called him a head case either. The most I said was "Haley is a beast and is not to be messed with."

It takes a special mentality to be great on the defensive line. But little did we know what Charles was dealing with. Once I hear enough of these stories ... I'm slow to conclude on why a person reacts or behaves in a certain manner. You never know. We're just glad he got diagnosed and accepted the help.

I appreciate your response.

I don't know where you got that but they do. Deion went in as a falcon as well. They choose who they want to represent.

An enshrinee is not asked to “declare,” nor does the Hall of Fame “choose” a team under which a new member is enshrined. When elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, an individual is recognized for his accomplishments as a player, coach, or contributor.

Yeah, I agree with you about Charles. He was a beast, had a very special ability, was tough as nails, but sometimes got in moods, that was all we knew. I'm glad he finally got help. He looked so happy last night. Just full of love and graciousness. He was so down to earth in his speech, it was more like he was just talking to friends. That was very special to me.

You know, Sportsbabe, I think that we are one in the same. We are both ladies who are led by our hearts. That's why I like ya.:)

Thank You. I've learned over my years on this earth to put things into perspective.
I've been through some things and came out on top and on the bottom.
I try to see thing from the other man/woman"s POV. Unless you walk in that person's shoes you can't say for sure what is or is not.

Then why does every media outlet alway say the specific hall of famer is going in as a falcon or niner or whatever team they played for ?

No they don't. The NFL will make an indication where they feel the player's greatest contributions took place, but look at the busts. There's no reference to the specific team.

He and Debartolo have had a very close personal relationship, even when he was playing in Dallas and to this day. He's considered part of his family to some extent for whatever reason. Who knows.

Debartolo was a great owner. As a Cowboys fan I was glad to see him go. He was like Jerry without being up front in the media/draft/personnel decisions.
in other words, just an owner. I'm glad Jerry is finally getting it. His ego was destroying his brand.
