An older guy saying that the newest generation is dumber than theirs. I cannot believe it.

Haley won on strength quickness and a scary level of determination. He never struck me as cerebral in his approach to anything.

His football IQ was off the charts. Many players and coaches, even those who did not like Haley, have said this often. Haley knew everyone's assignments, he was like a coach on the field, when he was so inclined.

He was instrumental in the development of Leon Lett into a pro bowl player.

Haley was instrumental in helping the Cowboys win the SB's that they did.

On the field, he was a bad mutha(shut your mouth)!

But, off the field? He was the same way. ;)

Jimmy knew what he was getting and like he always said, he treated players differently. If you are dumb, get out of here. But, if you are smart I will treat you differently.

Haley was smart, period, when it came to football. What he did off the field is another story.

Haley was a VERY smart football player. Yes - he was (is) bi-polar - but he was a very smart football player with scary good instincts.

He exhibits lack of empathy. He may or may not be bipolar as I have no way of knowing but from the stories told he got off on schadenfreude and centered his relationships with others around that.

It also seems that we have a different interpretation of intelligence. I never got the impression that Haley was thinking between plays. I got the impression that he was reacting during the plays. What you call intelligence, I call instinctual. I agree with you though.

This Cowboys team could use about 53 Haley's on it.

Course, a couple of Hennings wouldn't be bad either. To keep the Haley's in line.:D

I don't really like the guy, honestly.

Please understand, Charles has a mental disorder. He's on medication for some type of Bi-polar disorder. Google it. We need to judge him on a curve. He was one of my all time favorite Cowboys because the only thing I cared about was his production on the field. Haley was a beast!!!!

maybe crazy, bi-polar or whatever but he seems to know what he's talking about when rushing the passer

Haley may have been crazy off the field but he was crazy like a fox on the field. He was a master tactician to go along with his take no prisoners attitude.

And imagine how much better Spencer could be now if he had Ware's work ethic and smarts. Ware is not just a crazy athlete, the guy constantly works on his craft and it shows. Spencer's feet were all over the place and he is slow to use his hands. Maybe its just this one vid but ...

Oh please,

Like the stank in that locker room now from these underachieving Cowboys teams of late is any better?

Janitor would love the breath of fresh air.

I played blackjack with him in Tahoe one night right after the Superbowl, where I won $1500 on the Cowboys win. He seemed like a quiet and nice and humble guy, he was with friends from his college days.

I thanked him for helping me win the Superbowl bet (15-1 odds on our first win in the 90's). I was surprised he was so mellow and polite, after all of the stories I had heard about him.
