Chaz Green and Doug Free

I think you guys are being too hard on some of our players, and maybe not hard enough on some others... I see Carr catching hell on here all the time, and while agree that none of our CB's are play-making CB's, I also remember what it looked like around here when guys like Alan Ball were starting at CB... Carr isn't half as bad as some make him out to be... In my opinion, Smith hasn't been much better than Free this season... I've seen Tyron draw almost as many penalties, and whiff on his block about the same number of times...

Free and Carr are pretty far from being "awful" at their positions... Neither one of them would have any trouble finding another starting job if we cut them tomorrow... JJ Wilcox is an "awful" FS, but Brandon Carr and Doug Free are average at worst, and in the salary cap era, average is the best you can hope for at some positions...

Money is a factor in our complaints with these guys, we don't see the monetary value of a Carr and Free. If Carr got Alan Ball money I would be fine with it because he's playing up to his pay.

Carr is our best corner by a good margin.
Free played better today than people will admit. Carr and Free are the Cowboyszone whipping boys.

I love Byron Jones but you saw how the dolphin successfully attacked him today.
I don't see Carr giving up TDs yet people love ripping our best Corner because the FO gave him a large contract.

Carr deserves it because even in being average, he isn't earning his absurd contract. It's pretty obvious Jones does much better against slower targets or playing with eyes on the QB.

Leary will be back next year, starter or not. He is a Restricted Free Agent next year so his salary will be around 1.%MM unless another team is willing to give up a draft pick for signing him. Even as a quality backup, that will be a bargain - especially with Bern likely to leave as our top backup OG.

I wouldn't say it's a foregone conclusion. The first round tender last year was a cool $3.4 mil and the second round tender came in at $2.4 mil. Those numbers are only like to go up this year as the salary cap increases. Will the front office really pony up that kind of cash for a lineman who hasn't even been active on game days since Collins took over?

The original tender is more reasonable at $1.5 mil, but a team could sign him away without losing a draft pick since he was an undrafted free agent. It's very likely there will be teams out there that feels he could start for them.

It's probably too much to ask to see Chaz Green enter the starting lineup and replace Free at this point, but if he is healthy and conditioned, I wouldn't mind giving him a chance out there.

I think you already answered your own question in the first part of your sentence.

Chances are Chaz Green will not see the field this year in a starting position unless one of the few things happen...

Free gets an injury and is out for the year and the current swing tackle or backup( Charles Brown) is also injured or really really sucks in practice or limited playing time.
We are completely mathematically eliminated from the playoffs and they want the younger guys to get some time.
We are killing people during a game and have a lead so huge they pull people and play others.

Even with those scenarios...I imagine the first one would be the only realistic on. At this point Chaz Green is not even listed on the Cowboys Depth chart @www.dallascowboys.com

So realistically...his best chance will come next offseasons when the camps start where he should have a full year in the conditioning program and hopefully is injury free during that time. Maybe he gets a chance to play for the starting job in camp.

Until that time...I don't think it is very realistic to expect him to jump in as a starter for Free when he first has to beat out Free's Backup..>Charles Brown at this time.

I understand the idea to promote talk and so on, but again, I think you already answered your own question.

Collins would be just as dominant at RT.

He very well maybe down the road.
However he was not so in camp when they tried him in limited snaps.

Or...maybe they decided it was too much of a mental thing to have him keep moving between positions and just decided to keep him where they wanted him at OG.

I remember even after we got Zack Martin...there was talk of the cowboys wanting to move back up and get Trai Turner from LSU to play OG so I think they wanted to shore up OGs more than the RT...but who knows.

One other thing to consider about Green.

He had a history of injuries in college, came into the league and got hurt early on and has been off the team due to the injury.
How about we not go and put too much stock in him being the starter anytime soon...he might get injured. ;)

People are mad at Free and Tyron for their whiffs; I hope they come back mad too. They need to give Free help when he is isolated on top pass rushers in general. I don't think he's as bad as people claim. I thought he made some nice reach blocks in the run game and won some of those isolations.

I can easily see tendering him at the 2nd round range. No one will sign him for a second but you have to retain his rights. I can easily see us getting value for him. Also, keep in mind that Mac is FA next year. So we've got a real hole backing up the interior

Ahhhhh...it's hard to rate the OL when the defense keys your plays, many times yesterday I saw players stunting toward the play, and jumping Tony's snap count, both have to change before we can evaluate the OL in fairness.

I'm remaining hopeful Chaz Green will be given a chance to compete for the RT spot next year. This year is apparently his time to rehab and develop his skills at RT. Perhaps he'll see action in 2016, assuming his ongoing development proceeds as expected. I'm also hoping Green's past occurences of injury are now destined to be left behind him for some time to come.

I can guarantee that if Green doesn't get on the field this year that Free will back at RT next year.

They may let Green compete for swing OT but they won't cut Free free.

The coaches didnt do the Tackles any favor with the play calling either. Miami's defensive line was pushing hard up the field and Dallas runs one delay and ZERO screens.

How about calling some plays to take advantage of the DEs firing up the field like that?

Free can't and won't last forever. It's just a matter of time before Green or someone else supplants him. It's definitely a matter of when more than if. Hopefully, Green lives up to expectations, whether it's 2015, 2016 or later. Let's also be aware that Free isn't free of injuries. I seriously doubt that anyone can guarantee that won't be the case at some point in the future, whether soon or later.

This. Romo was stuck waiting for receivers to come out of their 10 and 15 yard patterns and needed some short outlet receivers or at least to roll out of the pocket from time to time. Limited draw plays and no screens or crossing patterns until the end. Romo was getting killed on those long pass patterns so watch for NC to blitz a lot. Hope Romo gets a lot of film time on these guys because your going to hear Kill Kill a lot.
