I see that he was inactive today. He seems to be a solid player that could eventually nail down a starting tackle position for us. But he has been been "out" due to injury, a LOT.

Does anyone know the details on today? What are the chances we can count on him on a regular basis?

Would you count on him as a starter, or do we need to crank up the hunt for an OT as Doug Free starts to tail off even more as time goes on?

What are the chances that we will have both Free and Green on the team next year? Will we look to bolster the weakest link on the OL?

What about Free's contract? Is it prohibitive to bringing in a replacement?

Green sure looks like he could be the real deal, but he has missed way more games than he has been available since he was drafted. Injury prone or just bad luck?

The question is: Is he injured or is he inactive because Dallas would rather carry Looney because he can play two positions (center and guard) and Martin can swing out to tackle in an emergency?

If he is injured, I would not know about it; I have not reviewed the injury reports lately. Anyone know for certain if he is injured?

I thought Looney looked alright when he was in there.

With all the zone stuff we do I think it helps those guys who need to fill in.

Zeke is really good at getting outside the tackles which is hard to do in the NFL.

I like him as a player but he had his share of injuries in college. Usually that becomes a trend in the NFL IMO.

Like him as a player. Don't want him starting until he shows a track record of staying on the field for more than 3 games at a time.

Yeah if you let Free go, you will likely have to draft another guy who you believe can start at RT just in case Green cant stay healthy. Green has the talent to be a good starting RT, but his track record of staying healthy isn't good at all.

Exactly my concern as well. If he's the starting RT next year then you better have confidence in your swing tackle cause there's a good chance you'll need it.

Green starts at ROT next year. Either draft pick or FA is new swing OT.

I'll agree on that. Free has likely reached and might be a bit overdue to complete the twilight of his career. New blood is on tap for 2017.

I sort of believe that we may end up with another year of Free and Green just as it currently is. If they continue to both play at the same level I guess that isn't the end of the world.

The interesting part about the Green injury situation is what kind of replace my player you pick up for Free if you want to let Free go. We could keep Green as the swing tackle and draft a guy to replace Free as the starter. If so you might get a double or triple dip there: get younger, better play, cheaper contract.

If you are drafting the starter you could draft a doninant right tackle without regard whether he could play left in a pinch or you could get more of a swing tackle type in the event of injury. Guys that can play both sides go high in the draft, while guys that can only play on the right side tend to slide in the draft.

It really all depends on how you view Green how high of a pick you would have to use to get Free's replacement.

Definitely would be nice to draft another offensive tackle next year at some point.
Competition and possibly playing time based off Free declining/injuries and Green having the injury bug.

I know people want to see a replacement for Doug Free, but Green is injured waaaaay too much to be counted on as a full time starter. He was always injured in college and he has had injuries his first two seasons in the NFL. Bad idea to count on him.

Whatever injury he had on that right foot, he finished out the game. Then he was in a walking boot & hasn't had a full practice since then, only limited. To me, that screams menstrual bone injury......6wks

We shall see.......
