i think these are some points not always mentioned in this whole debate, regarding garrett......
* jones gave garrett his big opportunity; he took a qb coach, and interviewed him for the head-coaching position.....then effectively gave him the offensive coordinator's job BEFORE the head coach was hired: a huge statement of faith in garrett, by jones (and a huge promotion).
* garrett is being groomed for our head coaching position: there's no danger here, folks......if the cowboys start sliding, phillips will be the fall guy, and garrett will get a free pass to that job. he's in a perfect position, career-wise.
* garrett would do well to NOT go to an awful team, desperately trying to rebuild: it takes a lot more than great head-coaching to turn a team around.....history shows that many good coaches received a kiss of death by going this route, too soon....
* it would behoove garrett to gain more valuabe experience before jumping on this ship: he's young, gaining experience.....and needs to position himself better for this job, by soaking up as much knowledge as possible (from phillips)......
i could go on, but i think the point is made (and i hope that jones emphatically makes these points TO garrett)......garrett has a very bright future in dallas, and he's in a win-win situation: he needs to stay PATIENT; he WILL be the head coach, sooner rather than later......
