Yes it did I did not give you want you want. Without talent you don't have a chance at winning SB. Dallas has been to 8 won 5 meaning in the 40 some odd years of watching them we failed more than we succeeded. Most of those years we had talent and we competed for championship years, during some down times in the 80's and 2000's we lacked the talent and were no where close to competing for a championship so yes it does matter because it give you a real chance.

Na you don't answer anything. You just dodge the question. What does all the talent in the world mean when you don't win in the playoffs?

Yes, it does.

So what does our 13-3 season with 13 pro bowlers in 07 mean?

Doomsday101;3114273 said:
It is the tired old SB or bust mentality. I wish my Longhorns were National Champs every year and the Cowboys won SB all the time but that is not reality. Having a team who can truely go out there and compete and have a legit chance at going all the way matters

You're still missing the point I'm trying to make and it didn't answer my question. If you're tired of the superbowl or bust mentality then I guess you're tired of being a cowboy fan. That is what this organization is about we're winners. That would be like yankees losing the WS last season and going okay along as we got there. Child please. When you're a great franchise the expectations are greater. If you want to be happy with play offs births and division wins then root for the Eagles. Otherwise expect the bar to be high. I'm a Miami fan after we lost our 2nd came my interest in college football died. No national championship nothing else matters.

To whom?

If you ask me I will tell you it meant our 20th Division title. That matters to me. I don't care if it matters to you or not. Not even a little bit.

If you ask me I will tell you that 13 Pro Bowlers is an NFL record. That matters to me. I don't care if it matters to you or not. Not even a little bit.

If you ask me I will tell you that 13-3 matched our best regular season. That matters to me. I don't care if it matters to you or not. Not even a little bit.

If you ask me I will tell you we scored 455 points. The 10th time in our History we have scored 400 or more in a season. That matters to me. I don't care if it matters to you or not. Not even a little bit.

Just about everyday on the radio here someone calls in and complains that the owner of the Bills doesn't give a darn about winning. Jerry gives a darn at least.

My goodness, man, it couldn't have been made any clearer by the previous posters. Talent gives you a chance to win Super Bowls... a much higher chance than having no talent does. No one wins Super Bowls every year, even if all the talent is there. That's just life, so deal with it. Try not to be so obstinate and really try to understand what people are telling you.

I'm with the OP...

I for one love Jerry Jones as an owner, and his passion for the game is unmatched! He really is the Cowboys' biggest fan, and while he makes money head over fist, you can tell he has a genuine interest in the welfare of the team...Not too many owners you can say that about!

As for those who criticize Jerry the GM...I understand and somewhat agree. But he's such a great owner that I look the other way on those negatives, because the positives outweigh them BY FAR!

I hope Jerry can find the elixer of youth and stay at the healm of this team for another 30 years or so...There will never be another like him! We should enjoy him while we have him, we may not be so lucky once Stephen takes over...

i tend to believe that if Jerry had gone the conventional method of hiring a separate GM when he bought the team. The Cowboys would now have 3 less Super Bowl rings than they have now.

I think you are right to a point. The Vikings only agreed to the terms of the trade because they thought Jones was off his rocker and was going to keep all those riff-raff Vikings players they sent us instead of keeping the picks. Thus, I think they only did the deal because they thought Jones didn't know how to be a GM (at least I've heard that explanation before).

I do agree that Jones is a good owner.

I do agree that he has learned alot from the mistakes he has made in the past as a GM in terms of hiring coaches and assembling a good scouting department with a solid draft strategy.

I think the part he does extremely poorly is deciding which players to attempt to re-sign off of his own roster and how much he is willing to pay them. He routinely overvalues fairly mediocre players coming off good seasons and pays them ridiculous long-term contracts. He also doesn't seem to have a good idea on when to try and reach extensions for his young players that are developing into solid starters. Lastly, he has often done a bad job at assessing other team's FAs but I think he is on the right path now finally.

I do think in a non-cap league that we would routinely be contending in the NFC championship game and winning a large number of Super Bowls because he is committed to winning and he could erase his mistakes quickly without the salary cap.

I love JJ. The guy flat out wants to win world championships and that is all this team plays for. We don't play for division titles. :)
If that were the case he would've never fired Jimmy.

I still believe we win at least 4 straight Superbowls if his ego didn't get the best of him. :banghead:

We haven't won a playoff game in almost 15 years. Yet he already is planting the seed to axe Wade. There's only been one constant the last 14 years. :)

Fixed that for ya.

And yes, Cheers to Jerry Jones. Best owner in the NFL.

It doesn't matter. No one cares about the runner up or the loser. That's the way of this country that's the way of the world. Who cares about all that it's just fluff. What is taken from that season is that the giants beat the 18-0 Pat's, Not whatever nonsensical memories you hold onto to make yourself feel better about a failure of a season. Just like the eagles success with McNabb and Reid means crap if they don't get a ring and by the looks of it they wont. That's a team who's never even won a superbowl.

Despite what many might say about Jerry Jones, we're lucky to have an owner that cares about winning. Take a look next time our opponent scores a backbreaking touchdown when they show Jerry in his box - he's not happy.

I think Jerry wants to win. BUT only with him in full control and getting credit. He obviously hasn't done all he can to win, or he would've hired a real GM over a decade ago and would've sparred us several pupppet HC's.

But hey, he really, really, really wants to win because when we don't - he's not happy.
