I guess people have a problem with Durant because he doesn't "wow" you on tape but or on Sundays.........but we can use as many linebackers as possible.

I have a problem with him because he's a veteran LB who's almost completely worthless. You can't tell me one of our young guys couldn't come in and do what he does. He's never even been a 3 down LB. He's a guy who is pretty decent against the run, out of his element defending the pass.

Give me Holloman, Hitchens, or Smith instead.. if one of them can show something during the preseason.

Better list Bishop or be on the look-out for Brain....that's his guy.

I think Gardner, Bishop, Dixon are pretty solid to make the team. Be interesting to see how the CB from Oregon does. Can't wait for camp to start.

Mitchell could end up being the best of the bunch.
In any case, I'm with you...really excited to see how the newbies do.

To be candid, it's not altogether too difficult to churn a roster when your roster has undergone a catastrophic downturn over time.

Nevertheless, there's still a just cause for rejoicing when something is being done before things become completely hopeless.

i like it because we should no longer hold on to certain players based on name sake or whoever thinks of their potential.

I would prefer to see the talent bump Durant off of the roster. He doesn't impress me.

Cutting Durant only saves about 700k against the cap and they are positioned to be about 10-12m under going into the season, so it's really not worth it to me to jettison a young vet. If he gets beat out he still provides good depth.

Agreed.

He was one of the very few linebackers who actually looked like he knew what he was doing in pass coverage.

I may actually be worried about the LB position more than the dline at this point. I won't start on FS. Ugh

Durant was solid. I'm fine if the young guys beat him out, but he was not terrible.

He was really good filling in a MLB but was quickly injured.

Yep. And like you pointed out previously... he's not costly.

Bottom line the guy isn't going to hurt the Cowboys by being on the roster.

We've got a couple more guys to "churn" off the roster, and we'll be set.

If he honestly gets beat out then that's a good thing. If we reach the level where our cuts start getting scooped up by other teams, it means our overall talent is improving. Last year we were picking up other teams scraps.
