The wife and I love Chicago. It has a beautiful skyline, great food, and lots of stuff to do and see. We don't leave the downtown area much though. She loves the Magnificent Mile (the northern section of Michigan Ave in downtown. It's called that because it's a shopping haven) It's a great city and there is tons of stuff to do.

  • Cubs game (ignore the whitesox)
  • Bears game
  • Navy Pier
  • Dinner cruises
  • Go to the top of the Sear Tower or John Hancock building
  • Buckingham Fountain
  • Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum
  • Shedd Aquarium
  • Lincoln Park Zoo
  • Walk the mile to see all the historic sites (old Water Tower, Wrigley building)
  • Go sailing on the lake.
  • Just Google things to do in Chicago, you will find lots of stuff!

Nope, I'm an IT Infrastructure Engineer. (I build servers, storage, and networks for financial trading platforms)

I just love Chicago. It (like New York) an incredible city to visit.

You forgot the Field Museum I mean it is right next to Soldiers field

You can see Sue the TRex; if you ever watched the movie the Ghost and The Darkness they have the Actual Lions on Display that the movie is about.

It is a very nice museum as well just my two cents on that.

You also have Chicago History Museum I went when I was like 10 so i only remember a few things it was a field trip in the 3rd Grade when I spent a year living in Indiana.

I didn't want to make a list 3 miles long. Which is why I said Google it. :)

In other words he picks up a phone and calls a vendor to take of everything and takes the credit for it. :laugh2:

I do call hardware / software vendors, but not contractors. ;) I design the infrastructure and install it myself. :)

Try there pizza too:
Geno's East
Lou Malnatti's
Giordano's

Take one of their buses that take you around the city.

They have a speed boat ride on the Navy Pier that takes you out on Lake Michigan and shows you the South side and then goes all the way over to the North Side. Don't wear a hat when you go on the boat.

You pretty much hit all the highlights right there.

I love Chicago myself, so I have nothing to add really.

If he feels like driving, he can always go to Great America Six Flags and Gurnee Mills (more shopping).

Sears Tower is now Willis Tower. Locals still call it Sears.

The area by Wrigley Field has some great little spots to dip into after a Cubs game.

It's summer so go to the beach off Lake Shore Drive.

I ate lunch at the The Chop House and it was great. According to my friends they got the tip from Rachel Ray that lunch is cheaper than dinner at most places. I look forward to going back to this place sometime.

Harry Carey's. Nothing spectacular, but my friends from Chicago said I had to go there and I did.

This was another great lunch place. When I went two years ago they had $1 deserts. They were very small servings, so you could pretty much try everything off of their dessert menu which was fantastic.

Yep, I know about the name change, but I would never refer to it as that hideous name. :banghead:

  • Cubs game Checkin the schedule now, wife may not be pleased.
  • Bears game
  • Navy Pier 2 blocks from where we stay..a definite..may even try the ferris wheel.
  • Dinner cruises Was ready to book for a fireworks nite...but dayum! I don't want to buy the boat.
  • Go to the top of the Sear Tower or John Hancock building See they have a glass floor balcony...should do wonders for my phobia.
  • Buckingham Fountain
  • Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum
  • Shedd Aquarium Always hard to pass on a nice aquarium...hope we find time.

I went to the Uno's pizzaria in downtown Ft Worth a couple of weeks ago when I was there. It was terrible. The wife and I used to visit the Uno in White Plains about once a month, but we haven't been in well over a year now.

It seems all the Uno's outside of Chicago aren't any good. I went to one in Houston and was pretty disappointed.

Personally, I prefer Giordano's over Uno's.
