/26/17: In this analyst's opinion, Awuzie is a mid-rounder, but there are some teams that really like him and are considering him in the first round. In my opinion, Awuzie gives up separation too often, is beaten for 50-50 passes, and doesn't play up to his size/speed combination. However, there are teams that like him because he is tough and does pretty well in zone coverage. On the year, Awuzie notched 65 tackles with 12 passes broken up, one interception and four sacks. He played well at times for the Buffaloes, but was torched in the finale against Oklahoma State to the point that teammate Akhello Witherspoon was assigned to Cowboys wide out James Washington.

We shouldve listened. We were duped smh

Our front office cannot draft defensive players.

Look at all the premium picks that have been blown lately on defensive players.

Gregory, Taco, Chido, Trash Hill, Jaylon,

they have a few hits of course. D Law and Maliek Collins I’ll give them. Not bad for a 3rd rounder.

but man some of those misses are killing this team right now.

it gets even worse if LVE’s neck continues to be an issue.

I think he will benefit from a new staff more than almost anyone in that locker room. I've cursed him a lot this year but I still think he's got something there. He tackles in college. These guys just turn into pansies when they come to this country club and play for this coach. This guy desperately needs a new coach to stay on his ***.

I'm not giving Chido a pass cuz he has brought the Charmin all season long. But it can't be coincidence that all of these players that were lights out in 2018 are slap fighting opposing players as they run on down the field.

That guy's horrible in coverage why is he covering WR's down the sidelines?

Why is any linebacker covering a WR down the sideline?

Just another example of the horrible coaching on this team, and that includes Richard.

Richard made his reputation with Richard Sherman, Cam Chancellor and Earl Thomas. He doesn't have that class of players in Dallas. People complain that Dak can't win unless he's surrounded by top talent, Richard is the same....

Then some want him as the head coach also. Pass seem enough NEXT!

He’s coached to play the way he does but I’m also starting to think he should play SS if a new set of coaches can’t correct what the current ones have done with him...

How quickly people forget. Last year Awuzie, like so many other young Cowboys, showed plenty of talent and promise. We were talking him, Jaylon Smith, LVE, Byron Jones, and even Zavier Woods up like they were the future of the Cowboys - and they are. We should be asking why this entire team has underperformed. What happened to Jaylon? LVE? Taco? Lawrence? Woods? Awuzie? and even Jones? What happened to Maliek Collins who was supposed to have a breakout year?None of these guys are playing like they did last year. What happened to Amari Cooper the 2nd half of the year? Why does the offensive line fall out so dramatically in some games?

Before we start talking about throwing all these player away and signing a new team, we get answer the question of why this group underperformed so dramatically. If this questio is not answered, the new guys could disappoint in a year or two just like this group.

This started once JG became the HC. We had more misses than hits with our high picks used on defensive picks in the JG era.
Here is the list of defensive players picked in the first three rounds since 2011. It's pretty pathetic. So far we only hit on DLaw and Byron.
LVE is inconclusive due to his injury and T HIll also since we didn't get to see him much this year.

Bruce Carter 2nd round
Mo Claiborne 1st and 2nd
Tyron Crawford 3rd
JJ Wilcox 3rd
DLaw 2nd
Byron Jones 1st
Randy Gregory 2nd
Jaylon Smith 2nd
Maliek Collins 3rd
Taco 1st
Chido 2nd
J Lewis 3rd
LVE 1st
Trysten Hill 2nd.

Where do you expect to get answers like that? We can only speculate. Last year the season was rapidly turning into a roaring dumpster fire. The Cowboys started 3-5 and then Cooper was signed.

That provided a spark and turned things around to get to 10-6, win the NFCE, and a playoff win against the Seahawks.

It also provided hope things could be better this year with all our young talent.

But at some point this season (probably when they started losing to good teams) they lost their confidence. People started saying they simply are not as talented as we had hoped.

And maybe they aren't. The second half schedule last season was weak. And the Colts blowout shutout loss may have been telling us something.

At any rate. They never got their confidence back. Then they turned on one another. And the fans. End of story.

Just all my take.

Collins is a decent rotational guy and well worth his 3rd round selection.

However, I agree w/ you. We suck at drafting D. The only two we got who are good were small school project types who happened to work out.
