To expand about on @Risen Star post about KC looking to trade up and what that haul would look like. They trade would bring us the Chiefs 1st (31) 2nd (63) 4th (133) as well as their #1 in 2026. Im going to base this mock mostly on guys we have shown interest in

Round 1) Luther Burden, WR Missouri
Round 2) Shavon Revel, CB East Carolins
Round 2) Alfred Collins, DT Texas
Round 3) Dylan Sampson, HB Tennessee
Round 4) Ollie Gordon, HB Oklahoma
Round 5) Justin Barron, LB SU
Round 6) Tommy Mellott, WR, Montana State
Round 6) Ajani Cornelius, OL, Oregon
Round 7) RJ Mickens, Safety, Clemson
Round 7) Seth Henningan, QB, Memphis

Brother, Cowboys currently have 2 picks in the 5th round. I believe they used to have 4 in total before (1 original early, and 3 late in the 5th as compensatory picks). They used two of those late 5th rounders during recent trades (1 was used for the QB Joe Milton trade with the Patriots in exchange for Milton and a late 6th round pick). That leaves them with 2 5th round draft picks.

The likelihood that the player at 12 will be better than the combined contributions of the players at 31, 63, 133 and next year's 1st rounder is extremely slim. Almost non existent.
Agreed. That's why in the other thread on this subject I said it was probably the right move. Just that I wouldn't do it.

Yea but you gotta admit there’s something fun about grabbing someone at #12. Just an hour into the draft. And you get to hype him liek yea hea the new guy oh boy what number is he gonna pick

The guy you pick at 31 is just a guy you didn’t like enough not to risk a ton of other teams taking. (Liek guyton last year)

You gotta let the draft breathe

This is about as good as it gets for me as a fan

Burden is great addition.
Love Revel who is a 1st rounder without the injury
Collins and Sampson are legit starting talent
Gordon is my favorite back
Love Mickens as his father was one of my favorite players

So did he just pick a team?
In which of the 1000 alternate universes does it make any logical sense for the Chiefs to want to make this trade?

And their draft targets are widely expected to be Josh Simmons and Conerly… neither will require a 19 spot jump!
I like Simmons. But man that’s a lot of moving parts

Rookie to LT, Rookie who played LT last year to RT, Steele likely released

This draft would solve all our issues and we would still have the extra 1. The issue is as always we have no way of knowing who would actually be available at those spots. It’s just such a big risk to drop so far down but this is the draft to do so. Good job because it looks like you did the work.

Eh, discussion was on why KC would have any interest in moving from 31 to 12.
There’s just no logical reasoning for them to make that trade!

That said, it was painfully obvious last year why Guyton skipped the bench at both the combine and his pro day last season.
He’s a finesse tackle, he translates to right tackle in this league. I find it highly unlikely he’ll ever be physical enough to play the right and take on strong side ends on a consistent basis.

They’ve used their allotment of 2 June 1st designations for this season so unless they just want to piss away 30 plus million in cap they can’t just cut Steele all Willy nilly!
Considering how much better he was in the last 7 games when they committed to the run, Dowdle ran for 700 yards and the DEs weren’t getting to crash at the snap and that they’re going back to an inside/outside zone in which he was much better suited and earned his contract I don’t think they have any interest in moving or cutting him!

Did you watch the super bowl?
Lol,
They’ve got an 80m contract tied into their RT that they can’t get out of until next year.
They just signed a LT to a 2 year contract for 30m 21 guaranteed (fairly sure they’re not paying 21m for a swing tackle).
They Franchise tagged their RG.
Their center Creed Humphrey isn’t going anywhere and they draft Hunter Nourzad last year to back him up.
They have their 2nd round pick from last season penciled in at left guard!

Superbowl withstanding, what logic is there in moving up 19 spots to take someone who translates as a guard or at best a Right Tackle!
When there’s at least three guards and the best 2 left tackle prospects that will all be within your range by either moving up 5 or 6 picks or moving down 3 or 4 or just sitting and getting one!

They must want someone. This whole discussion is because there are leaks they are looking to move up

Why leave us hang on who you're drafting with the 2026 1st?
My Mahomes Voodoo is still a work in progress, so Im going to wait on 2026 until final mock when we are locked in at #1

Side note: Thoughts and prayers going out to Pat Mahomes
