He took a 4-12 team to the playoffs his first year and has finished 10-6 in consecutive seasons. It took Garrett 4 and a half seasons just to have a winning record.

He took over a 4-12 team with 12-4 talent that had quit on Andy Reed.

They had some several close losses against good teams early in the year. They could have easily been 11-5 or 10-6.

He doesn't use the Brown or Coryell style ad nauseum route labeling. It's about man reads, zone reads and route combinations. Sure it's a higher order of complexity than what RG3 and Wilson did but I would watch those guys run 3 plays all nuanced and read a bit different. I counted Wilson running the same read option play, routes and all, 7 times in the super bowl.

If you have say 40 of those plays then you could feature 3 new plays a week and stick with a core of 4 plays. In college he probably pared it down even further which resulted in new stuff every week. It kind of misses the point of what is going on to say he 'changed the offense every week.'

Maybe he has enough different looks to keep NFL DCs confused but it's still going to be Bradford and the scrubs out there making those reads. They are going to need to continue to be a running team.

He is destroying the offense and getting rid of players yet he still manages to win 10 games.

Like him, hate him, think he is over hyped by the media....he still gets the team to a winning record where I think most would have been having losing records with the same roster.

He wins wherever he goes.

The problem I see is that he turns programs into winning teams but can he get them over the hump...so far the answer would be no.

Let's see what he does this season after getting rid of every playmaker on offense and rolling out a QB tandem of Bradford/Sanchez.

He is so fixated on his system and thinks any player he picks can fit in just fine. Except this is the NFL. They aren't playing scrub college teams 8 times a year.

And his system is not innovative in the least. Bills ran this type of offense and much better and efficient. To the tune of 4 Super Bowls in a row.

he has never won a championship and his teams usually fade late in the season. But facts like that are ignored because of the perception that he is a genius.

That is akin to claiming teams can't be Super Bowl caliber unless they are playing in the current season's Super Bowl. 12-4 talent doesn't necessarily translate into a 12-4 record. Teams can under perform or out perform - or just get lucky/unlucky. Crazy catches, bad bounces, etc.

Chip getting to the playoffs his first year is a little over hyped, it was a really down year for the NFC East.

Seriously. And they got bounced from the post season QUICK. Never had a real shot.

And we saw how they looked at the end of this past year.

His squad gets so burned out (especially defense) that they can barely make it through the final four games of the season, let alone play effectively in January against the best teams in the conference.

That's what I keep telling people: Eagles opponents only have to run at his speed 1-2 times a season. They have to do it the whole season. For that system, 3 starting RBs is nice......but what about the other 21 positions? It's not like McCoy and Sproles were gassed last year. Blocking and defense sure were though, especially at the end.

I saw a documentary on Kelly and remember when he started to put his system in at Univ of NH. NH head coach at the time said to Kelly are you crazy and Kelly told him not to worry we will out score them and they will not be able to keep up. It may work at college level but the defense in the NFL needs rest. We will see what will happen this year.
