Choice Should Be Starting When Healthy

Choice will get traded in the offseason for a high pick in the draft.

I like all three backs. I don't think Barber or Jones has proven that they can stay healthy enough the last couple of years to warrant sending Choice packing for a pick or player.

I think Choice will be a Cowboy for a very long time and that brings a smile to my face.

I actually agree with this ONLY because Barber and Jones seem to be a bit slowed by injury.

Barber is such a great blocker. Did ya'll notice how many times Atl tried to blitz Romo's blind side with a db? If Barber's 100% he should start but right now it makes no sense not to get Choice involved.

Other than this past game Choice has been involved. I have no doubts he will continue to get oppertunities.

There is no reason that we can't keep all three and just play the guy who's hot at the moment or as the situation dictates. And really, does it matter who starts?

We can keep all of them for at least a couple more years but I do think there will come a time when each will want a larger role and the oppertunity to make big money. For now we have 3 good RB who contribute

I truly believe that Barber will be traded if there is no salary cap next season. I could see Dallas trading Barber for a 2nd round pick and using that 2nd to pick up a position of need like FS. I beleive Choice is better as well, but by benching Barber you kill his trade value.

Unless he is hurt more, Barber will be worth more than a first round pick to most teams that don't have a Choice to rely on. I also believe Choice is the best all around back Dallas has, but Barber's contract could affect his trade status. Notwithstanding the money Barber has coming, the most foolish thing Dallas could do, IMO, is let Choice or Jones go somewhere else.

:)

My opinion is that you can never have enough quality backs on a team. Barber and Felix have already been hurt and you want to decrease our depth?

good grief....

This is the 2008 version of T.O. threads, i.e. by far the most annoying.

Tashard Choice is a quality back but he has less than 150 total carries for his career.

The number of backs who look good in their first 150 carries is vastly larger than those who look good as NFL starters.

All 3 of our backs have looked good and all 3 will get their chances.
The thought we must play one guy 12-15 carries is silly though. We have 3 guys who are quality and the match-ups and game plan versus that team should dictate carries.

Barber is and should remain the starter. He is one of the best blockers at the position and wears defenses down. He doesn't need 20 carries a week though as if by rote. Let the game plan dictate.

Choice has averaged 5.1 yard per carry which is great production but it's in limited carries without ever being the focal point of a defense. He has only 2 career TDs.

Felix in VERY limited touches has 5 career TDs, and a yards per carry average over 8 which is amongst the highest historically recorded.

Marion Barber AVERAGES over 9 TDs per year.

i think we should trade barber for a first and a second if we could even get that.. id take a first for him.

No he won't. We won't trade any of our backs because that way we can focus on other areas of need. We have the best RBs in the league. We'll keep it that way.

Start? I'd be content with 4-6 carries a game.

Dude barely gets anything. Its nuts. He's one of those guys who just makes plays and he can't get any love.

He is obviously the most complete back with felix being his speed supplement with Barber coming in on "insurance drives". I LOVE BARBER, but he gives up a lot on the open field even with his offensive "powering runs". I really think Tashard would set up the offesnse nicely w/barber and jones coming in off the bench even though I know gm "responsibilities" will make them go with Barber. When Barber is healty I would start with him, but with him gimping around after five yards how much momentum can that really bring even if he is "setting the tone"? Get the fresh backs in there and for god please teache them how to pass protect properly! Start Choice, supplement Barber, and let Felix do what what he knows to do. When Barber is "fully healthy" he can return to Choice's role (unless he is obviouslly out proving him) and let's play with what the best we have instead babying egos...

when you stop and think about it, "starting" RB is more title than anything these days. not just for our 3 prong attack but in general.

the giants have many backs. philly is about to. washington hopes for 1.

most teams in the leage spread out the running duties now and maybe it's me but i don't think "starter" means what it used to.

Blame Austin:)

Those long TDs meant many fewer overall snaps.

Last week we had what 55 total offensive snaps and not even 25 RB runs.
Choice got in the game we just didn't run the ball much.

Heck Choice was a starter as we opened with all 3 backs on the field.

ATL focused on our run game and we simply passed the ball.
But, hey, Choice had the same number of catches as Roy Williams and had more yardage receiving.

We can agree to disagree on the means in which we can get there, but we seem to feel the same way on focusing on our areas of need. If they get a good offer that will give them the ammo to move up and go after a top tier Left Tackle, then I think that they will part ways with Choice. He is a very good young back and would be a great asset to a lot of other teams, but he is the third option on this team now and in the near future. Left tackle is a major area of need next offseason and Dallas might have to move up to get a really good one.

Barber's salary is too high to be the type of asset that Choice is, so he isn't really going anywhere anytime soon and they are similar backs.

Again with this thread.

Who cares who starts? All that means is who is on the field for the 1st play of the game.

We need to run more, period.

It's so obvious it's frustrating..:bang2: :bang2: :bang2:
