Chris Covington thoughts

For what? Being thrust into the PR role that doesn’t suit him in order to keep Austin and Beasley from getting hurt? His value to a NFL team is at WR. He proved he is a capable WR right now and his work ethic points to even more improvement in the future. Those are the types of players I want on the team.
fumbles didnt help.

Wasn’t he the LB that came on the blitz on the first game a crushed the qb?
yes sir. I loved it. Also..Jeron Johnson, the safety we just cut played with the same vigor...which is why I was stunned we cut him. Which is why I firmly believe something is brewing as far as an ET trade.

Maybe. Or maybe something is coming that’s not ET. Or maybe nothing. Lol. I have no clue what’s going on this year. Unpredictable so far.

I saw nice routes and catches including a toe tapping TD. I also saw practice recaps with his name all over them. I saw offseason workout reports with him putting in the hard work with Dak. I could care less about fumbling a punt in preseason. He isn’t and never will be a punt returner but he has a chance to be a solid rotational WR.

Very short, nice routes against 2nd and 3rd teamers and guys that just got cut yesterday?

Is he the only one that put in work with Dak? Has there ever been an indication Noah Brown wasn’t willing to put in hard work?

definitely unpredictable. Maybe that's a good thing.

A few head scratchers. Was shocked that we cut BO and Jackson. Only 2 RB? I am sure one will clear waivers.
I'm thinking we bring Bo Scar back and sign him to the PS then eventually add another ..maybe Pumphrey.

That may be the idea - at least one clears waivers and can slide to the practice squad. Or they pick up someone cut from another team. I assume we will at least have a practice squad RB for emergencies.

Just strange we brought Jackson back at all. Was hard to evaluate BO due to us not playing our starting O-Line much.

This really says it all. They fall in love with players and draft them too high and keep them on the roster after they don’t do anything to earn it. Meanwhile a player like Lenoir busted his tail all offseason and showed he can be a legitimate NFL WR. Forget the punt return stuff. He would never be a PR and was only there so Austin or Beasley didn’t get hurt. Lenoir showed the work ethic and improvement that should be what defines RKG. Not keeping the best 53 you can is not a recipe to winning in th NFL. Lenoir earned a spot over Covington, Brown, and a few others.
Maybe they see that as his ceiling

Last 10 plus spots on roster are guys that have a ceiling the coaches see as higher than where they presently play ar

Covington did play special teams in the last two preseason games. His responsibilities slowly increased with each preseason game. I think he was out of the first game due to a minor injury. He barely played in the second game. In the third game (Arizona) he had two assists and one special teams tackle. He started the fourth game (Houston) and had four tackles and one special teams assist.

He was constantly around the ball on kick and punt coverages and laid out some big hits both there and on 3rd string defense.

I could even see him active on gameday as opposed to March.
