I don't think Jerry is going to take a chance on this kid.

Pacman was different. We went after him because he was away from the game serving his punishment for a year already.

Henry isn't even close to that scenario just yet.

I am not sure why we are assuming he isn't still going to stay on suspension for some amount of time. He can still be suspended for his conduct.

Maybe it's not for all 16 games, but it's still a strong possibility that he gets some kind of suspension this season.

You may be right DC but I just dont think the NFLPA will allow the league to suspend a player who actually was not found legally guilty of any charges. All the charges were dropped and he was not on suspension before then.

Far from what others may think, I strongly feel that Jerry will actually go after this kid for the simple reason why he went after Pacman. Sure Pacman was out of the game but there was also a need and an opportunity to get a damn good player. Jerry knew he could get him for little of nothing and figured why not take a top 10 talent for a 4th round pick at price he could afford. Not to mention the extra motivation the player will display that could make it more than a robbery.

Henry may have not been out the league but he understands the essence of being suspended. I just think that some of these kids are not bad but simply need to play in a different enviroment. I understand the argument that they should come in with "choirboy" mentality and should earn their money but the fact is that some simply dont know how. Some of these knuckleheads simply need to feel the agony of being without before they get it.

Once they get it then you see their true talent emerge.

It happened to T.O.
It happened to Tank
It happened to Pacman

and hopefully Henry!

I think it's a bit early to say that it's happened for Tank and Jones. I honestly don't consider TO as part of this list. He is a pain in the arse but he is not a legal issue. Henry, well, I suppose we will see. I guess I just don't see the value in Henry. He has impressive physical attributes, that is true. However, in three seasons in the league, he only has 88 catches. His numbers just don't match his physical talent. I can't even say that it's the offense or the talent he's playing with that account for this. He has one of the very best QBs in the league. He has one of the best run supporting offenses in the league. plays opposite one of the best WRs in the league. I mean, it just seems as if he does not produce enough to make him a good risk for the award you can expect to receive for him. JMO.

NFL | Henry to apply for reinstatement
Mon, 14 Jul 2008 10:18:15 -0700

The Associated Press reports free-agent WR Chris Henry (Bengals) plans to apply for reinstatement by the NFL immediately after prosecutors dropped the last remaining charge against him Monday, July 14, according to his agent Perry Ancona. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league will review all factors at the appropriate time.

I'm kinda in the middle on this, I do see all the bad things about this guy and they are balanced out by any good that he could bring.

To me, if you are going to take a risk on a guy, especially when we have already taken alot of risks lately, he has to be a big time major talent in a need spot for the team. Well, Henry is certainly a need spot, but I can't say he is a big time major talent worth the risk (can't really doubt Pacman).

Alot of things in the NFL are swept under the rug and we never know the details, but I figure Jerry will do his due diligence on this guy and figure out if he is worth that risk. What we already know about him is bad, but im sure Jerry can do some digging and find out more.

I figure we will have to trust Jerry on this one, cause of the situation we will probably never know everything, but Jerry will know more than we do.

If Henry really understood that, then why does he find himself in this situation in the first place?

Here's my question: Why do coaches ever avoid headcases? Maybe we can think about that one for a minute.

I for one saw Pacman, Tank, and TO coming here, and agreed with all of them. However, I cannot see Henry coming here.

Pacman was different. He was already demonstrating that he had changed his perspective on his life and actions after a season of being suspended. Henry has not demonstrated that yet.

Even if he did, I would be weary of bringing in too many head-cases. He is an old buddy of Pacman, of those two together could bring back old memories and future trouble. The talent that Henry has is not enough to offset that risk.

I'm not sure Henry is even as talented as advertised. He was in an offense where two number one receivers (TJ and Ocho Cinco) were getting the majority of the attention.

I just don't see Jerry biting this time.

As one league insider opined to us a while back regarding the simultaneous presence of Jones and Henry in Morgantown, “It’s surprising no one was killed while they were there.”
That got a chuckle out of me.

It seem like a game of Jenga or Don't Spill the Beams. Dallas has taken chances on players that can hinder team chemistry or get suspended, but the more chances they take the more likely they are to make everything tumble down.

I see a lot of posts about Dallas being willing to take chances on other players, so why not Henry. I don't see Dallas taking lots of chances, just a few. TO in 2006, Tank in 2007 and now Pacman in 2008. This would be taking a chance on a second guy within the same year. That would be new. Plus the Pacman experiment hasn't really even started. They are not even in training camp yet and who knows what the regular season will bring. TO has shown who he is and what he brings to Dallas over two years. Even Tank has some time in Dallas and how things work. Pacman has shown nothing yet. I would like to see how that goes before adding yet another big question mark in Henry. Maybe in 2009 Dallas can look at Henry, but for now I think they have enough to worry about.

Ok here's a questin for your HEnry loyals

Pacman was suspended for a year, and then we went after him, after he expressed a desire to change his ways, and be apart of football

Henry was suspended for 8 games, came back, played some decent games, and then went back and continued the same behavior that got him suspended in the first place.

So my question is, why should we believe now that he's a changed man? Because he was suspended a second time?

Just playing devils advocate here, since the charges have been dropped and thats after a 6-2 hung jury in his favor(over a misdemeanor) who's to say that he continued the same behavior? I'm sure if Jerry has any interest that he has cops and detectives investigating whether he has changed or not.

Whether or not the charge is dropped is irrelevant. Something had to happen to raise the charges. He had to engage in some behavior that was stupid which would mean he hasn't learned his lesson.

He claimed it was mistaken identity and it looks like the majority of the jury believed him.(It was obviously a shaky charge anyway) Your finding him guilty without having any proof. Thats precisely why I said that if Jerry is interested he would be able to have investigators find out if he is staying out of trouble or not.(or just lucky this time)

Wow.

I'm just stunned that some people think it's a good idea to bring this guy in.

I know. I have some faith that Pacman can keep his head on straight, at least this year -- he was able to make it through a year-long suspension without getting into much trouble and seems to have a passion for the game.

Chris Henry, on the other hand, has the look of a total douchebag, who can't possibly stay out of trouble. Kind of like Brandon Marshall of the Broncos, they're both just too stupid to see the light.
