I wish they'd stop this. It reminds me when they tried bring back Dick Clark to do New Year's Eve and all it did was embarrass him. It is obvious that Mort is struggling and you can see it on Scheffter's face. I know they love him and have a great deal of respect for him but it is painful to watch a man that can no longer do what he used to do and is aware of it. You can see it in his eyes.

I've watched him for many years and would rather remember him when he could do his job with pride. I can see the embarrassment and struggle on his face and it is painful to watch.

I was thinking yesterday on how bad Mort looked. He doesn’t seem to be into it and ESPN is not handling this professionally I almost think he was against doing the draft

Is he sick? Cancer?
He has been fighting it for a while and he shows the signs of drug haze. I've seen that too up close and personal. Got to be tough on Scheffter as you can see him wanting to jump in and help him out and Mort keeps glancing at someone off camera to his right.

Could be the opposite and he's pushing for it. They're known to be a pretty heartless organization with their people but I don't think that's the case with him. Losing Stuart hit them hard.

I'm not sure what the point of bringing Mort back is. ESPN's draft coverage is already loaded with personalities. Mort isn't really adding anything except name recognition. It's not needed.

I dislike ESPN and only watch it on occasions like this but the draft coverage has been surprisingly good. Louis Riddick is a revelation.

I would imagine Mort wants to do it and ESPN is honoring his request however painful it is.

Except when they had equipment failure with him last night for an hour, he had no idea what was going on around him and just sat there. They should have taken him off the panel while they worked on it as he looked totally disinterested, he looked like a guy waiting for his wife to come out of the bathroom.

You could be right I wouldn’t think they would force someone going through cancer or something like that to work but you couldn’t use angles the same and expect Mort to be able to keep up with Adam.

ESPN does a good job reporting with highlites until they begin presenting analysis and narrating opinions.
