This guy is ridiculously good.

But to give a former Cowboy Legend a prop, I thought I'd make this post.

CMC joined Jim Brown and our own Emmitt Smith as the only players to post 600 yards from scrimmage in the first 4 games of the season.
He also has now scored a TD in a record 13 straight games.

Pretty good company and some early MVP talk, but that award is usually for QBs.

Shut that man down, Dallas!

Thank the Panthers for getting him out of their own dumpster fire.

People were talking about C J Stroud and why he went to #2 per the draft on the game forum.

Again, you can thank the Panthers for going with Young and passing up Stroud because per the Pathers GM, Young really could communicate via a dinner they had together and seemed to be natural fit for a leader.

Not a panthers fan by any means, but it could be worse, seems Tepper is worse than Jones LOL

That 13 straight games with a TD is a franchise record, not a league record. Emmitt has the record with 14. (Emmitt is also tied with McCaffrey for second at 13 in an entirely different streak.)

Edit: oh wait, that was only since 1990, and it includes playoffs.

All time, it's:
15: John Riggins, O.J. Simpson
14: Emmitt
13: McCaffrey, Emmitt, Arian Foster

If you look at regular season only, it's:
18: Ladainian Tomlinson
14: OJ
And a bunch of guys at 13. Interestingly, CMC is only at 10 so far (his other 3 were playoff games), but it's still active. Emmitt tops out at 11, twice.

I said a few years back he was better than Zeke and henry but folks laughed at me because he was gurt alot with carolina. Dudes straight up beast and the best complete back in the league.

Maybe we halt the streak

Wait..I thought players have to help their team win super bowls, it's why you think Romo and zeke are bums....right ?
An Mac needs another 800 carries to catch up with zeke....if he can stay healthy. I'm ignorant enough to be surprised he played 14 straight games.
Maybe now he plays for a contender....he won't be "hurt" as much.

LOL here we go with this again.

#1 at no point have I ever thought either of those 2 players were "BUMS" I just dont kneel at their alter like you do. If CMAC played on on our team instead of Zeke oh my the numbers I believe he would have put up. He would break murrays numbers

That said Zeke was incredible his rookie year and what he did for his team cannot be understated. One of your big things with the Zeke decline was he was hurt and forced to play so you understand that injuries impact a players performance as does line play. Cmac played on a garbage team yet when healthy was among league leaders and he made carolina a different team when on the field. Hes doing similar things in San Fran.He doesnt need another 800 carried hes already proved himself

As far as Romo goes Im done arguing with you Romoholics. You guys constantly are on dak for his defenciies yet hes no different than Tony. Both of them for different reasons has failed to get it done. Each of them are part of the equation not THE equation.

SKELATOR is problem 1 with this franchise. But hey who knows maybe your boy Cooper will get another shot or maybe Lance. Either way it dont much matter to me I just want the cowboys to win. And if they dont I lose no sleep anymore

Okay...it was just some friendly banter...no insult intended.

I don't think I'm as hard on Dak as you think. I've said worse things about Zeke than Dak. Including BENCHING (not signing) during the hold out. You don't remember those.

I do remember those. I also know you have an imcredible soft spot for the 2 players mentioned. Its always friendly banter steve I know i get impatient at times but its always friendly. There are people in here that i literally cant stand. You dont fall into that category.

Let me rephrase. i cant stand their posting style i dont know them personally but if I were a betting man. They arent to unlike their posting style

Yeah, this guy is good, and his team is smartly playing toward his strengths. This year's 49ers are one of the best examples of teamwork that I've seen in ages. Their O-line is outstanding in how it opens up holes for McCaffery to run through. But it doesn't end there. They're often able to continue getting him good blocks down the field, turning a good gain into a really long run. Check out is 65-yard run against the Steelers. I'm not taking anything away from McCaffery. He's an excellent runner.
...
Any 90s-era Cowboy fan knows that a running game is never all on the runner, nor is it ever all on the O-line. I remember in the 90s, some bozos were saying that Emmitt wasn't actually all that great. Supposedly our O-line and blocking were so good that any scrub running back could run as well as Emmitt. That turned out to be nonsense. In that year when Emmitt held out during the first two games, our O-line was the same juggernaut, but the scrubs playing in place of Emmitt could not do what he did. They gained some yards running through those holes, but the running game just wasn't the same threat as it was with Emmitt. It's a similar situation with today's 49ers and McAffery. He's really good. And his team has set up a system that gives him ample opportunity to succeed.
...
I really hope the Cowboys can beat this team. It goes without saying that they're the best team we've faced thus far this season. We've got an excellent defense, and we can run the ball. We've got a chance to beat them. That would warm my heart.

H did already have a 2000 yard season playing for Carolina.
Just saying

Good stuff.
Thanks

Fwiw, I meant the 49ers record. Thought about editing it but (wrongly) assumed it was a given.
I'm surprised he is even that close already to the NFL all-time record.

LT was a monster

McCaffrey has always been a baller. His issue is staying healthy. He's done a much better job of it in Santa Clara than he did in Carolina. But the fact remains he's a running back who is at or below 200 pounds. That works when the line is opening gaping holes for ya.. but when the sledding gets tough and you meet defensive front that isn't getting moved off the ball it's a different ballgame. His health will always be a game of Russian Roulette as long as the 49ers continue to lean on him as heavily as they do. They just better hope that when (not if) he goes down again it's not in the playoffs or just before they begin. Or worse yet a long term thing. The kid behind him is pretty good.. but he's not special like C-Mac is.

No doubt.

Fwiw, and your point still stands, CMC is about 210

They list him at 5'11" 205. I think they're being generous with both numbers. Neither of which has much bearing on his ability to play the game.. but have meaning in terms of staying healthy. He's a smaller back with his mom's track speed and his old man's toughness. Dude can play.. gonna be a challenge and a half for our defense this week. I do think our defense is better than it was last year.. so it's gonna be a little harder to open any gaping holes in it. Then again it's not like they ran it up and down the field the last time the teams met. Gonna be a fun one!

There are a number of backs who look smaller than their listed weight...and probably are smaller.

Yes, Christian, but also Pacheco, Gibbs and others.

Christian has played 79 of 101 possible games. So he can miss some games. Kyle Shanahan and his father both have had coaching careers full of seeing their backs constantly getting injured. Terrell Davis is merely one example of guys with short RB careers around the Shanahans. Don't know what it is, perhaps those wide zone runs, I don't know.

They are not afraid to heap a whole load of work on the running back's plate. What we used to call the sprint draw is a staple of that running attack. If the line executes it's a thing of beauty to watch because it allows the back basically the entire field to play with. He can press it play side if that opens up but the lateral first steps give the back visibility of the defense so if he sees backers overpursuing he can cut it back. They send receivers down the line to crack the DE or OLB too. The blocking schemes are predicated on making d-linemen have to move and once you get them moving in one direction they're much easier to block in that direction. Our front 7 will need to have serious gap discipline this week!
