Did anyone watch the Hope for Haiti telethon last night? There were so many great performers, it was like American Idol All Stars out there. Amazing act after acts like Stevie Wonder, Timberlake, The Boss, Sting, Shakira, JHudson, JayZ, Alicia Keys etc. But, the one that stuck with me was Christina Aguilera debuting a song from her upcoming album Bionic called "lift me up"

What a magnificent performance. To me, she has always been overshadowed by Britney Spears that people tend to forget shes got powerful pipes. It had me near tears.

She also looked the best I have seen her look. I love her new hair cut.

Did any of you have other favorites from the telethon?

She's beautiful and much more talented than Britney Spears.

I love this song, especially Jeff Buckley's remake. I didn't know JT had it in him. Very impressive.

Justin Timberlake was also a highlight, do you know the dude that was dueting with him?

ETA: Wonder when hes planning on making another record? Its been like 4 years since his last one.

That song has been covered so many times, and almost all of them end up being pretty good, but that was just excellent. I'm not sure I've ever heard Timberlake sing like that (i.e., normal).

Britney spears is not in the same league as Christina. None of the teeny boppers are. Christina can actually sing, and sing very very well.

Its true, CA can sing better than BS, but Britney has her beat in the popularity contest. Spears has sold way more albums than Christina.

I am not a fan of Aguilera's music.....however, she does have a powerful and versatile voice. She can sing many different styles. I also find her to be smokin hot, especially in her direct TV commercial and the video for that super girl song.

it is the same with Martina McBride....I find her to have a great voice and some of the prettiest eyes around....but I just dont care for her music.

All-star Haiti telethon raises $57 million, so far
By NEKESA MUMBI MOODY, AP Music Writer
Sat Jan 23, 4:18 PM PST

Organizers for the all-star "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon say the event raised $57 million — and counting.

"The public has set a new standard of giving for a relief telethon with 'Hope for Haiti Now,' and the donations continue to come in," Lisa Paulsen, president and CEO of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, said in a statement released Saturday. The group is helping to oversee the funds gathered from the event.

The two-hour telethon aired Friday night on the major networks and dozens of other channels, including MTV, Bravo, and PBS, and was also streamed live online. Stars like Brad Pitt, Beyonce, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen and more used their presence to encourage donations for Haiti, following a Jan. 12 earthquake that killed an estimated 200,000 people.

The total released Saturday includes money raised by phone, text and the Web. It does not include donations by corporations or via iTunes, where people are able to buy performances of the event for 99 cents each, or the entire album for $7.99. Those funds also go to Haiti relief.

The "Hope for Haiti Now" CD is the biggest one-day pre-order in the site's history and the new song "Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)" by Jay-Z, Rihanna, Bono and the Edge, debuted during the telethon, is the No. 1 single on iTunes.

People can donate via text, phone or through the "Hope for Haiti" Web site for the next six months. Among the organizations who will receive funds from the telethon include Oxfam America, UNICEF, and the Clinton-Bush Haiti Foundation.

I've gotta agree, and I've never been a Timberlake fan... the arrangement was quiet, and beautiful, and I had no idea he could actually sing...
