A lot of people guessed that he wasn't smart enough to learn the playbook. What I have been seeing is a ton of physical ability but a ton of little lapses. Not necessarily mental mistakes but things that drive coaches crazy.

The Sammy Sosa stuff before every play is one thing. The over excitement after a nice run when losing is another. He just seems too lost in his personal battle and not the team's situation. Which can be hard if you really believe that you could help the team the most if you were the starter.

I didn't like the hip bump after that drop and I didn't like the fraternizing(and that goes for all of them).

Something just seems OFF with him, which is shame because as we saw on that run that was called back, he has the power to run through Earl Thomas and the speed to get down the sideline. I do think he needs to have a larger share of the carries. McFadden can't be counted on week to week.

Not an instinctive runner. Hesitates too much.

His running style is OK. I think he would do great things with this team.

It's his mind that bothers me. He has to get past that self-centeredness.

It did look like he was running right over to his coach when he came off the field for tips and encouragement.

I'm pretty certain he knows the playbook. It's about pass protection and being able to read the defense because it's about knowing when to stay in and protect, who to block and when to release. The scheme he came from was different so it has different principles in pass protection. If he doesn't start getting it by the end of the season, then I would start worrying. But, Rod Smith is going thru the same thing.

Um ok thanks I guess scout. I don't know what he is I don't think he's really gotten a chance but online seems to be home of a lot of former and future scouts. Not

They trusted the Rookie Rod Smith to be in on passing downs when McFadden was out instead of C-Mike. Rod Smith has 2 career carries (none with the Cowboys) and zero pass receptions yet they appear to trust him more than C-Mike.

They need to give him the Private Pyle "blanket party" treatment from Full Metal Jacket.

Speaking of Smith he's a big dude... I know you've watched a lot of game film does this guy have decent talent? What's the knock on him?

Actually you and @CowboyStar88 can take the advice to heart yourselves. I think its funny what people say at times and I'm going to comment on it. Same way if I agree I will do the same. If you don't like it tough but that's what a messageboard is for. People post things and sometimes people agree with them other times they don't period. Get off your messageboard high horse and look at what you posted and how you could learn from that same lesson.

No hypocrisy at all and if it is show it don't just say it. I believe everybody can have a say just don't mean I agree with it. You're just still upset about that Randle thread but you'll lie and say you aren't. I know how sensitive people get online at times and hold it over posters forever

There is not much game footage of him. He had 10 carries for 70 yards in the preseason and 6 catches for 27 yards. In the regular season he has 2 carries for 5 yards.

To me he looks similar to a stronger but not as fast version of McFadden. Maybe a little more lateral agility to make jump cuts but he gets a little upright and is susceptible to ankle tackles at times like McFadden. He can power through people at times but I wouldn't really call him a power back per se.

You would think that someone of his size he would be a power back. His build reminds of Rashad Jennings

Maybe he can be. There really just isn't enough game footage to make much of an evaluation.

If he has reasonable intelligence, then they can probably find a role for a guy with his size and athletic ability.

Geez, when you're only getting 2-3 carries a game, if that, it's hard to get in the groove.
This is basically why I said what I said that got me told to be nice to everybody and don't criticize their unrealistic post lol. I don't think we can know what he's going to be. I mean when he does get the ball I see good things from him most of the time. I wish we could get a game of 10-15 carries for a few games to see how good he is or isn't. People act like after that NE game their wasn't some trashing McFadden's pass blocking skills.

Rod Smith was in on pass protection and Michael was on the bench. They do not trust Michael at all to pass protect and that's most likely the main reason he gets so few snaps a week. He must improve cause defenses are noticing it and they play the run when he is in
