Christmas tree?

When do you put yours up? That's assuming that you do. I was robbed of a bit of the Christmas spirit last year due to recovering from my illness, so I need a bit extra this year. I think I'll set up the old tree this weekend before the game. Give the cat something to torture besides my house shoes.
:)

When I was a kid, we didn't put it up till Xmas Eve. And we didn't take it down till February something. How many of you actually go to the trouble of cutting one down with a saw?

Hopefully we will put ours up Thanksgiving weekend or sooner. My daughter has been on my back about it, so it has to be soon.

Mine came in a box from Walgreens, and like it's owner..."Pre-Lit".

Are you really sure you wanna know??

IMO, some questions are better left unanswered...

I'm sure Jerry Springer would rather know how many Czechoslovakians he's danced around (I wonder how many times he's told that same, lame joke??)...

Whenever my wife puts it up. :laugh2:

I doubt she'll put it up since we won't be home for Christmas this year.

We go out and cut ours down.

We usually go out a little after Thanksgiving. Hopefully there's a nice weekend in early December so it's not too cold. That's when I usually put up my lights as well.

I like putting ours up the day after Thanksgiving.

This will be the first year that our daughter will be somewhat understanding about Christmas, so it should be very fun.

We have a fake tree, because I don't like cleaning up needles, watering, misc. crap that can be in a real tree. I was going to buy a new one this year, but since we have a new kitten, I guess I'll put that off one more year.

The old one has branches that all bent up and discombobulated because the cats won't stay out of it. Now that most of them are a little older, then just like sitting under it, which I don't mind.

I also only decorate the top 2/3 of the tree because of the cats and our daughter running off with the ornaments (none of which are glass).

Fake trees are certainly a lot less hassle, but I just love the smell of a fresh cut tree.

Me too. That makes me torn.

We'll have a real one this year ... probably put it up in early December.

We put ours up thanksgiving weekend usually. We go right from Halloween decorations to thanksgiving to Christmas, one of my favorite things as a kid and I plan to keep that tradition doing when I have kids.

Amen to that.

All my life when I was home with my family we went and cut them down, it was great. Then we would let the tree sit in the garage over night after trimming the bottom and putting it in the stand. It was usually the second week of december.

Trees dry out with the heat in your house so the sooner you put them up the sooner they dry out.

Since I moved to Texas, I have had a hard time finding trees. It seems everyone uses fake ones here or something..... We had a fake one for 3 of the years I have been here. I absolutely hated it.

So we are back to a real one. There is nothing better. Probably will get one the second week of december and leave it up till the needles start to fall off.

We wait until others cut them down then when they go to the store we take theirs. :lmao:

Go for it.

I have an artificial tree in a closet and I'm thinking about taking it out very soon. Maybe this weekend.

There are lots of holidays here, but no Halloween or Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was my old marker.

I have a funny xmas tree story.

There was a guy who was a gym teacher at the high school my friend went to who lived on our street.

During the summer my friends and I were always riding our bikes around. The gym teacher was having a garage sale and apparently someone stole a pair of ski's and some other stuff. He assumed it was us because we had ridden past his house numerous times. He came after us and accused us of all this stuff.....it was a big ordeal to which he almost made us look guilty for something we knew nothing about.

anyway, so that winter we decided to get back at him. Occasionally on saturday's my friends and I would walk up to friendly's around the corner from our house and go eat. We had to walk past this guy's house.

So one night during our xmas vacation from school, on our way home, we saw everyone throwing out there xmas trees. The light bulb went off. We took about 8 trees....big trees and put them on his porch so that he couldnt open his door. It was ridiculous how packed they were on his porch. I have no idea how they didnt hear us.

So after we had them on there, a couple of us went across the street and hid behind the bushes and trees and one of my other friends stood on the ledge of the porch and rang his doorbell a couple of times. It was about 10 or so at night.

So as we hid behind the bushes across the street, we watched him try and open the door and could not. It was hillarious. He had to go out his backdoor and walk around to the front....he was all mad and yelling. It was great.

and that is my tree story. Nights like that were the best.

Weekend after T-giving. My ceiling is 12 feet where we put our tree. Most real trees look tiny in that kind of space and I am not about to mess with getting a tree that big, so we go with the gigantic fake.
