So very true.Hopefully Chuck could have felt the recognition of his Great Career.

Chuck Howley deserved this honor long ago.

An Outstanding Every Down LB who could Defend Pass or Run with excellence throughout his long career.
6 Time All Pro,5 First Team at LB.
2nd All Time in Total Career Takeaways at Outside LB to Jack Ham.
The only player from a losing Team to win the Super Bowl MVP.
Most Career Takeaways in Super Bowl History.

When Coach Landry switched Howley to WeakSide LB and put Dave Edwards at Strong Side LB the Cowboys Flex Defense began its legacy of outstanding play. The Athleticism that Chuck brought to that Defense was vital to how good they were. The best LB in Dallas Cowboys History.

Congratulations to Chuck Howley for his rightful induction in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
I agree with you, Captain.

Howley and Lilly were charter members of the famed Doomsday defense. Tom Landry once said about Howley: "Sometimes we allow certain people like Chuck and Bob Lilly to vary from the defensive pattern. (later called it freestyle) People like Chuck can do this and get away with it because of their outstanding abilities."
Chuck Howley intercepted 25 passes in his 14 seasons with the Cowboys.

This is a good day. Cowboy great Chuck Howley is at last enshrined in the Hall of Fame and he belongs there. Bob Lilly's fine presentation of a team mate was so fitting, too.

It was a privilege to watch #54 play, he was special and such an unforgettable player.
Glad he got in while still alive.
Sorry Bob Hayes did not.

Mr. Big Time.

His best plays were in the postseason where it counted the most.

There was a very strong argument for making Chuck Howley the SB 6 MVP. However, Howley was the MVP of the previous Super Bowl even though the Cowboys lost.

Still, in SB 6, Howley recovered the only fumble that Larry Csonka had that year. In the 4th quarter with Miami moving the ball, he intercepted Greise's pass and ran it back 41 yards. It was the nail in the coffin.

Congrats!

Is there anyone left on the old school teams who truly deserves entry? Bullet Bob, Cliff Harris, the original #88, and now Howley. Harvey Martin or Too Tall the next guys to advocate? How about Ralph Neely! Rayfield Wright the only offensive lineman to get in from all those dynasties?! All those great running backs didn’t block by themself!

Yeah, I’m saying he’s the only offensive lineman from almost three decades of dominance. That’s crazy.
Well I think Harvey and Too Tall should be in. I don't even remember if Harvey Martin was ever nominated. It seems like he's just forgotten. Both aren't even in the ROH.

I read that guard John Niland (1966-1974) was one of only 6 Cowboy offensive lineman to be selected to the Pro Bowl six times, and All Pro for three. He only missed two games in a career. Niland was on some great Landry teams, and had to practice against Bob Lilly, and that counts for something.

I wonder if the Hall ever even considered him now.

Jerry should be whipped naked around AT and T for not having him in the ROH.
