Did I mention that I love me some Church. This guy is just a football player. He is a solid tackler and is always trying to strip the ball. He was really missed last year. Oh and congrats on the TD church!

Nail meet hammer. We all knew this when he went down. Making up for missed time already!

People keep doubting this kid but he is a player. He squares up nicely when he tackles which is a sight for sore eyes. To many times we see our safeties just hit and don't wrap up

I hope Wilcox can start this season. Will Allen is our Bernadeau of the secondary.

Wow. I don't think I could possibly disagree with this statement anymore. I get people being in love with Wilcox's athleticism, but the guy is a long way away from being a solid contributor. We lucked out getting Allen.

Solid veteran leadership and stable dependable play in a secondary with two young inexperienced pieces. We don't need another mistake prone athlete back there. I am not saying Wilcox won't be a player for us some day, but those knocking Allen and wanting to insert Wilcox are doing so out of nothing other than blind hope and fanboyism. He hasn't earned the spot. Simple as that.

I like to call this phenomenon "Al Davis redux."

"But but, Wilcox runs faster and hits harder!"

The only mental mistake today was made by him. And Wilcox almost cleaned it up. One more incident from him like that and I can't see how he would still get pimped as some savvy guy. He should've known the call.

Actually Allen runs faster, just not while playing football.

A "solid" veteran leader should know what play is called. After seeing that blown coverage, he looked like a rookie to me.

Did we watch the same game? The only mental mistake?

Explain to me why Wilcox should play over Allen. No one on this forum has made anything resembling a good argument for that change. It all seems to be because Wilcox is flashier and has more big play potential, but there is really no evidence to support that, at the moment.

I loved Wilcox in preseason and I think he has a chance to start for us at safety someday, I just don't think he is ready yet. Maybe spot duty here and there, but not as a starter.

Honestly the only times I noticed Allen today is when Eli threw him the ball and when Wilcox came flying past him in pursuit of Cruz. He did have a tacke or two in between so don't want to dismiss him completely but I don't see how JJ couldn't do the same thing.

It tickles me to see people defend the status of fringe guys on the team. I'm riding the bench Allen train all year.

I've been a Church fan since he got here. The problem is he hasn't been on the field much.
