Anyone play Civilization V?

I'm thinking about getting it. I downloaded the demo before I went to bed last night. I might check it out this evening and if I like it, pick up the full game.

I see a lot of people complain about Steam, but so far I've had no problems with it. I buy a game, download it, and play.

The best part about it is I don't have to manage/store my CD/DVDs. (I have like 60-70 of different sorts already) If I format my PC, I just reload Steam and download whatever game I want to play that I've already purchased.

I'm going to wait till there are more mods for it. I always liked the mods more than the actual civ games.

Just don't wind up doing anything questionable on any of the games you play on your account, specifically games created by Valve or you may find your Steam account disabled and the ability to play your games lost.

I was checking it out the other day as well and considering it.

Not sure I understand the game completely...

Is it like Age of Empires where you are gathering resources and building up your towns etc, then waging war?

Steam is definitely awesome.

Civ 5 is a good game. I've never gotten hooked on any of them like some people have but its definitely a game I spent a lot of time on. Battles happen a little differently in this one and I found that kind of a cool concept.

If your PC has the horsepower for it I'd also recommend the Total War series if you like the Civilization type games.

I play a lot of Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam. If any of you guys play on Steam you can add me: search for warc8us.

I have a youtube channel with some of my L4D2 game play if you guys want to check that game out too.

Just an FYI.

Steam has Civilization V on daily special today (Feb 19th) for 40% off ($29.99)

I've been debating getting it, and this special tip the scale. Downloading it now. :)

Arrgh!
Dont say i didnt warn ya. The game is unpolished, unfinished and is hardly worthy of wearing the civ monikor. The multiplayer is horrible beyond belief and they for some reason decided to not include combat animations for online play.
Civ 4 complete is a much much better game and Shogun 2 total war is coming out march 15 FYI

I probably won't play the online game anyhow. I played the demo and it was enjoyable. Thats why I made the purchase.

Big Civ5 patch coming through sometime this month. Major re-balancing and such. At least they are still working on it. For what it's worth....

I haven't noticed any issues thus far. I'm about 250+ turns into a game. I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

It's an ok game, only in comparison to the Civ4, which was amazing.

It's a bit too easy for my tastes too, unless they already patched some of the broken stuff since I stopped playing months ago (playing India made the game beatable on any difficulty level).

I'm playing as America, and just conquered India. :) (playing on easy level anyhow)

Yea, just wait till you get to higher difficulty levels. Being India made the game too easy, compared to other civs.
