Is dtackle coming next?

DJ Reader is getting $11 million this year. The Cowboys aren't spending that kind of money on a 1T.

They are looking for that Ratliff type player. Big guy who takes on double team blocks doesn't excite Jerry.
Ratliff wasn’t that big though was he? I remember seeing him in person and thinking damn he’s built like tight end lol. He was a beast though.

He's a nice guy, at least to me. Smaller than his play. Jerry wants guys who rush. That's why they took maxi, that athletic score. If we can just get someone to help stop the run then take flyers on who might be the next Donald.

I'm all for adding another + sized veteran 1T to mix in with this group and possibly provide some leadership.

Mazi 6'3 330 (unknown since weightloss)
Toia 6'2 342
Rogers 6'2 346

I'd like for these young big guys (Rogers n Toia) to work out, defeat double teams and clog lanes. Ideally, in some instances Mazi could play 3T next to a bigger run stuffer to shut off the middle run lanes.

Maybe both these guys show up and the Cowboys keep 5 DTs to maximize stopping the the run.
Thanks for the size of DT's , it looks like Shotty wants the big run stuffing DT many here have
said we need, he just had to get what he could in the lower rounds.

He cant make the cowboys perfect in one off season lol, he has done pretty good for his first
one. I think this all makes them more competitive with wash and phil and some of the other good teams.
Just have to wait and see how it all turns out in sept and PS we should get a idea on some of them.

I know this PS I have a bunch of guys to look at in PS. Usually it is 2-3

we have been filling holes, saying exactly what you said for how many years? and fans with short memories forget and restart the clock, every off season.
its a one year plan for the cowboys. always

so why not throw a 7th round WR and trade for a DT or LB instead? they are throwing 7th rounders at the problem. in the meantime Eagles drafted two DTs two years in a row in the first round. they just won the superbowl....
It might be better to wait and draft one high, or wait for a good one to be available.
Right now most teams have signed their better players.

Also you wont get much for a 7th round pick or low WR.
They drafted 2 big DT's so lets see what happens with them.

I’d be curious to see how the Titans season starts out. If it’s clear they aren’t contending for the post-season I would make a play for Jeffery Simmons.

rogers is that big since when?

A DT with a pff over 70?........not expecting it.

I mean Osa has like a 68 so the bar ain't exactly high

The Cowboys probably think they addressed this by re-signing Osa, bringing in Solomon Thomas as a veteran rotation guy, and drafting Jay Toia late.

The key to fixing the run defense remains Mazi Smith. He did improve last season, but he was so bad in 2023 he had nowhere to go but up. They will probably look for a preseason trade pickup if Eberflus doesn't like what he sees from Mazi in camp.
