CJ2K has ALS

He's already lost the ability to speak....
 
Just terrible. Got it last year. Already lost the ability to speak.
4 kids too.

I know the Saints safety, Gleason, is still alive after years of being diagnosed, but obviously he's bound by so much medical equipment to keep him alive.

I don't know how some cope with that news. Most cancers at least you have a fighting chance. This, you watch your body slowly "die" and shrivel.
 
Sad last time I saw him on tv it was with Brandon Marshall. Looked fine. Disease is cruel. Nice software that he can at least communicate with but damn……

Eric Dane was another one…one minute whooping *** in Bad Boys 4 and next minute bound to a wheel chair. Sad man my prayers to CJ and being brave.
 
Sadly, he probably won’t be here this time next year. At least, Alzheimers is a slow progression.

Man, forgot Dane got it. Sadly, he went quickly.
Shame how the blood brain barrier is helpful in a lot of ways, but at the same time restrictive when your brain needs help fighting off certain things.

Unfortunately, this is a very accurate assessment. Good college buddy of mine and one of only a couple of guys that I kept in touch with from my college Years was diagnosed in early January of 2024.

He was gone and buried by Father's Day. Had just turned 50 when he passed. At first I would speak to him weekly on the phone just to check in and see how he was doing. But it wasn't long before he couldn't talk anymore and all I could do was text with him. He spent the last couple of months of his life in a wheelchair and was unable to eat by the end. It was unlike anything I had ever seen happen to somebody that I knew personally. Left behind a wife and four children . They were a really good solid family who loved spending time together

Just a devastating disease and a horrible thing for anybody and their loved ones to have to suffer through. Just genuinely tragic
 
So sad ........ my long time secretary's husband got lou gehrig's disease, he was a nurse, he was acting fine and in 2 months he could no longer talk and walk ....... and was gone within 6 months of diagnosis.

He was in his 40's

Almost killed her .......... she was super strong for their daughter.
 
As I always talk about, tomorrow isn't promised.Age has nothing to do with the time we have on Earth.I just lost a brother to stage 4 esophagus cancer. DIAGNOSED,then passed away 2 months later. Wasn't even retirement age. No symptoms. One day at a time, and life, it's a gift. Take advantage. Chris did that. Good on him. God be with him and his family.
 
Watching my spouse suddenly get sick in her early 50s has been gut wrenching. Many zoners know the full story. So from my perspective, I can relate to what Chris and his spouse must be enduring. Suddenly the other person in the relationship has to be a chameleon lol. Become a caregiver amongst other things. What I know about ALS, it's a death sentence. Chris sounded like one brave hombre to me. Proud of him. Great attitude. He might defy the odds because of that.
