I'm not ready to give up on him because in all fairness he didn't have a preseason. He will play better than what he played last night but I do agree he is not the player we thought we were trading up for. If we can swing a player for player trade that would be great because I don't think they can afford to trade a corner while they are already very thin there. He does not fit in this system at all but can still be a decent player if he can stay on the field. even with improved play I don't see him ever reaching the potential he was supposed to have. I didn't love the trade when they made it but always felt like it could be worth it if he was a pro bowl caliber player and I don't see him getting to that level anytime soon.... praying that I'm wrong

"I wasn’t even worried about the pain," Claiborne said. "I was hurting, but I wasn’t worried about the pain. I was more worried that my shoulder was out, that I’m injured again, I’m going through this whole process of being injured again. That was my big concern. I wasn’t stunting the pain. I just wanted them to get it back, so I can get back on the field and not have to miss no time. I've just got to stay healthy. I can't control it when things happen. I've just got to stay healthy and continue to be on the field with my teammates."

Pretty impressive that he was able to come back, in my opinion. I'm not sweating Claiborne. He played really well for us last year under tough circumstances. Last night was not great, but, again, there were issues with him getting on the field for the game, and Hakeem Nicks and that Giant WR group are no pushover. Mo is pretty far down on the list of things we should be worried about or be regretting. Especially when we have blown coverages from our Ss going off again right next to him.

Agree with all of this.

I just think we won't see him be super elite in this scheme and I'm not sure he can stay healthy either.

And I'd agree with both of those statements. He might end up an elite CB, but he's got a long ways to go. Looks like he's had some early health issues, too.

But the guy's definitely got the right effort and attitude. If he ends up having been overdrafted, I'd be bummed, but I'm not going to hold it against the guy. All you can ask is that he does his best and plays with pain.

His ball skills may flourish in this scheme. That's his best chance.

Based on his college career and physical ability there is no way he could be considered over drafted.

The Cowboys may have gave up too much to get him though but I'm sure they didnt anticipate a scheme switch.

well if they (the FO) are going to put Clai on the trading block ( which i highly doubt they will), they better do it now before he gets even more exposed and his value goes down

I'm confused...where is all the Claiborne hate coming from? Certainly not last night's game I hope? People are talking like he was getting torched left and right, but that's just not the case at all. Outside of the 2 big plays in the first half, which most likely should be attributed to Will Allen, there was an 18 yard pass to Randle after Eli avoided a sack, and the 2 yard pickup he got hurt on. I think it's pretty clear that we played a bit soft in the second half and Eli ate the safeties up. I thought most of the plays were to the other side of the field, except when Mo was out and Scandrick replaced him.

I realize it was probably a blown coverage but man ... just totally unimpressed by a guy we traded up into the top 10 to get. Deon was electric from day 1 when entered the league. Mo isn't even close to that and this is year 2.

I posted a couple of weeks ago the Claiborne was going to be a lot more like Dwayne Goodrich than Deion. Should have taken Janoris Jenkins or Honey Badger if we wanted cover skills..

PS Morris doesn't like to hit either...
