You'll have Brown for that. Just from the practice squad.
Well lets see, verbatim I doubt see him clearing waivers. I'll eat crow if I'm wrong. Jimmy Smith...damn, why did that name just come to me?

Dallas doesn't care. They have Pickens, Lamb, Flournoy, and Turpin.

Brown will never play.

The Dolphins need picks, not players. That's a rebuild.
For my latest 53, players I cut to keep Brown would include Sam Williams, Tyrus Wheat and Justin Barron. A case can be made for each for special teams, but Williams and Wheat would be our sixth DE/OLB. How many can we dress? Barron would be our fifth inside linebacker. How many can we dress?

Frankly, I'd cut Nate Thomas or Drew Shelton (and try to put him on the PS) and keep one of those three, but I don't expect Dallas to do that. I think Thomas is the backup tackle for Week 1 at least as Jones learns the scheme and I don't think they want to risk a fourth-round pick to waivers.

Really? Has he been a good second round pick for us? I must've been in a coma or something.

The Cowboys like Schoonmaker. And honestly, most people inside the building really do like him. Outside the building? That's a different story.

I think the disconnect is that the fans had one expectation for Schoonmaker, while the Cowboys had another. He wasn't drafted to be a pass-catching TE first and foremost. That doesn't mean he can't catch the ball — we've seen that he can, especially when Ferguson was out. Look at what Schoonmaker did when he was actually given a larger role. But too many fans look at his career stats, see the lack of production, and immediately conclude, "HE SUCKS." That's the wrong criteria.

If you're going to judge Schoonmaker, judge him on what Dallas actually drafted him to do: block, handle multiple responsibilities, play in-line, contribute in the run game, and be a dependable all-around tight end. And he has started 13 games the last 2 years. You can argue whether he's lived up to that role. That's fair.

But judging him primarily by receiving yards and catches misses the entire point of why the Cowboys drafted him in the first place.
