The NFL Sunday Ticket is video programming just like The Walking Dead. One should be given free and one should not due to the amount of whining? Please differentiate them for us.

Not even close to the same thing. Walking Dead it original programming owned by AMC. Direct tv doesn't own, produce or run any aspect of the NFL. ALL they do is direct feeds of the game to their customers that chose to pay. I can't really blame direct tv for it. They were the highest bidders and if they wouldn't have won, It would be on another carrier and we would be complaining about them. The problem is the NFL trying to squeeze every last drop of cash they can. There is no need to sell the rights on an exclusive basis besides the fact that they can get more money for it that way from the the bidders.

You can order single games. They're like $40 per, tho. You get access to the game and red zone for the day.

I've had DirecTV for years and years and have never seen or been offered that option. Is it something you have to ask for off the Double Secret Menu?

I wish they would do a Team Season Pass so I could just sign up for the Cowboy games all year. Even if it was $150 or something less than the $300 plus they charge for the every-game package. I only get it to ensure I get the 8 or 9 games that won't be nationally televised here in Arizona. The Cardinals usually play in the same time slot so I would miss too many games without it.

http://awfulannouncing.com/2015/the-nhl-will-allow-fans-to-buy-single-team-streaming-packages.html

Fans wanting to simply buy a single team package will received a discount of “at least” 20% on the cost of the full league package (which ran $159 for the 2014-15 season). There will also be a discount of an extra 17.25% on early bird, renewal, and full season packages for the upcoming season.

So great, NHL fans win, right?

Well…not exactly. Things are always more complicated than they seem.

Blackout restrictions are still in place, because of course they are. So if you’re a cord-cutting Bruins fan in New England, don’t think you can watch all of the team’s games for something like $109 over six months. It won’t be that easy. But if you’re a Bruins fan in Colorado that wants to see them? Giddy up – you can see all of the team’s games (well, except for those against the Avalanche) for a few bucks less than what you were normally paying to see every game, minus the locally blacked out ones.

Nope. I just went thru the menu options for redzone or some game on my TV and somehow selected it for purchase, then I saw a charge on my bill for like $40 or so. I'm sure it's still available.

Cool, I'll have to look for that.

There are many restaurants that offer park and ride to the game near by. I don't live in the area anymore, but I know Colters (if that is still there) and other restaurants offer this which then costs you basically nothing to park. I've done this many times for Cowboys and Ranger games.
Oh sure you can save some money if you want to park a couple miles away from the stadium... but I sure would be interested in where this location is that you say "costs basically nothing to park".

I just told you Colters did it and the stripe mall right near it also did it.

I always thought team packages would be much more highly sought after than the whole sunday ticket.

I just hear a lot of whining and people wanting something for free or less than what is being charged.

Next up: AMC is being sued for having a monopoly on the TV show The Walking Dead. No other channel currently has the right to air the program, and that is just un-American! We deserve free The Walking Dead on every channel, AMC and their "horrible profits" be damned.

But but but I want to be able to see the game from inside the stadium with out a ticket. But but but I want to see NFL Sunday Ticket with out signing up for Direct TV. I want to get from Houston to San Diego without paying airfare. I want a free cell phone.

The Walking Dead is also streamable on Netflix. ;-)

Also, here's a link to get a free cell phone from SafeLink: https://www.safelinkwireless.com/Enrollment/Safelink/en/NewPublic/index.html

You can certainly get from Houston to San Diego without paying airfare. Just don't take a plane.
:laugh:sorry I can't help being a smart-a sometimes

Living in the baltimore area last year is the only year I missed a lot of games. Usually I cannot watch 3-4, since I went FIOS I have missed 4-5 because Verizon will not carry the DC Fox Affiliate this far north in MD. One reason I am thinking about going back to comcast.

I probably spent close to 300-400 last season to catch 5 games not on local cable at the local bar.

In that same post you also admitted you don't even know if that place is still there, so forgive me if I don't plan my next trip to the stadium around finding these phantom free parking spots.

Since i've had DirecTV from the beginning, I call every other year and whine about Sunday Ticket. They usually give it to me for $119.94, or $19.99 per month. I've been doing this for years. This year is a full payment year. Next year, i'll whine again.

I don't think I've paid a dime for it the last 4 years.

how do you manage that ?

I just call the retention department and say that I can't really afford it because of various life circumstances and that it is really the only reason I get DirecTV. Since I won't be able to afford Sunday Ticket, I'm going to have to cancel my entire service. Or something like that. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 calls. Last year I moved and it was offered free with that. This year might be a challenge since I got some new devices and went back on a 2 year contract. I can probably get a good discount, but free might be a stretch.

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but MLB offers the best streaming/viewing package of the major sports. For $20 a month, I can stream any game at my computer live. For $24 a month, I can stream any game on any supported device including my Amazon Fire TV, Xbox One, PS4, etc. Those packages also come with live streaming in their MLB At Bat app. It's a sweet sweet deal and I just wish the NFL would catch up with the times on this.

Haha, that's what I do, but I don't want to push my luck so I do it every other year. Maybe I should do it every year. hmmmmmmm

The games were free. It's the beer and the wings that we pay for, lol.

True, but if I could have watched it a home the beer and wings would have been cheaper. I probably would have had more but it would have been "cheaper".
