Clean house, trade most everyone, rebuild

Firstly firing Nolan won't fix most our issues, it would help but JJ would never do that. What seems as the most obvious solution for all of us, like signing Earl Thomas, or firing Nolan, is exactly what Jones won't do because that's just how they are.

So the most logical thing to do is to trade Zeke, Dak, Cooper, Lawrence, Martin, Smith and Smith. That should clear up the cap and we would be LOADED with cap space, and most importantly the most draft picks every by the franchise.

Then we can keep Diggs, Gallup, Pollard, Lamb, Collins and let them play with Dalton. We would probably win 5 games, but we would be building for the mid 2020s to be a HUGE contender.

Im not completely against it, but im not sure thats how the cap works either.

Every player you trade their guaranteed money for the whole contract comes due right away. This isn't madden and its actually very difficult to do these types of rebuilds. Thats one reason so many players just walk when their contracts are over instead of a team dealing them for picks.

no one will take zeke, cooper or dlaw's contracts.

Smith (LB) sucks, no one wants him

Smith is oft injured so dont think many would take him and you wouldnt get a ton

Martin is still the best in the league, you build the line around him.

and....the one you guys are going to flame me the most for...you don't trade away a top 10 starting qb in this league ESP if he is still just entering his prime.

sorry but this isnt madden guys.

Only untouchable players on this team are Ceedee, Martin, Diggs, Gallup, and La’el

Everyone else can be gone

Agreed.

Look, I like Coop. But with CeeDee, Gallup, and Cedrick Wilson, we've already got a pretty darn good starting 3. WR is no doubt a (probably 'the') area of strength with this club. May as well parlay Cooper's value into either help now or (more likely) a high draft pick next year.

Ah yes, let's play quarterback roulette for the next decade and hope we just stumble upon another one. It's worked so well for:

Cleveland, Jacksonville, Denver, Buffalo, NYJ, Chicago, and whoever else in the last 20 years.

They restructured quite a few players on that list. Some with minor restructures, and some up to 8 figures in moving money to bonuses.

Point being, with the stagnant cap or drop in cap, and most of the players listed will bring in more dead cap than cap hit for next year if cut, we won't be doing a huge rebuild.

Besides, last thing you want is a huge blowup. It'll take 15 years to get right back to this point with how this team builds only through the draft

Or let's keep Dak, pay him $40M, have no draft capital, nor cap space to build a decent O-Line and most importantly defense, and keep Nolan, right?

with Jones & Co at the helm would the results be any different?

Someone sees the real problem. Every "rebuild" is done by the same bozos who screwed up the last one. There's no new GM in town to clean house.

You're asking the Jones boys to admit they made mistakes, then have the intelligence to fix them. Good luck with that. :muttley:

What point? We've already seen the better days of the Cowboys with Dak and we weren't able to make deep runs. It would be hard to get into that point, I can't believe I'm saying this but this roster looked so much better when coached by Garrett & co. I actually miss him and his defensive staff, they are real football people.

Why do we not have draft capital? Even if Dak's cap hit is $40m (it won't be), we have cap space next year.

Nolan has sucked so far, but you're talking about a complete rebuild, including the entire offense. It's stupid.

Before we even start from scratch, the important question becomes who will architect the rebuild? If it's our FO then it won't matter who the coaches are.

Franchises aren’t run like video games on easy mode where every unbalanced and stupidly profitable trade is approved by a console.

This is something called the real world.

Nah. We just need to rebuild the defense. The WR’s are fine. Zeke needs better gloves IMO. And Dak is fine. He’s not an absolute world beater but he gets the job done nicely. Maybe a few tweaks to the Oline. And a new OC (one that favors Bieniemy would be nice, no?)

Defense needs to be completely rebuilt though. From head to toe (besides Diggs. He can have more time cause he’s just a rookie). Anyone who’s been here over a year needs to be traded or cut.
Nolan needs to be cut too.
